Zurakowski Hessney on being awarded with a Knight of the Blind not only for all the work she’s done with the Saratoga Springs Lions Club, but the 40+ years she’s been working at the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany (NABA), a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive vision rehabilitation, training, and support services for people who are blind or visually impaired in the greater Capital Region.

It is with great sadness we share the loss of Wilfred H. Roehe, who passed away at the age of 91 on March 5, 2026.

Wilfred was instrumental in raising more than $1 million to help fund the Lions Eye Institute in Albany, New York. In recognition of his leadership and commitment, he served as President of the Eye Institute from 2008 to 2009 and was named Chairman of the Board Emeritus on July 17, 2001.
