This is exactly the type of discussion we have in our Drew Michael Taylor Foundation grief support groups. We’re not trying to “get over it” or “ move on”. We’re trying to help grievers identify positive coping skills in the company of fellow grievers who “get it”. We’re learning to have a relationship with our loved ones in a different way.

While a blue butterfly called Hope is the symbol for Children’s Grief Awareness Day, we love monarchs too!

🦋 Imagine flying thousands of miles to make it home for a family reunion. Monarch butterflies do it every year.

Every fall, two journeys come together. As millions of monarch butterflies travel south on one of nature's greatest migrations, families gather to honor loved ones during Day of the Dead or Día de los Mu***os.

For many communities, the arrival of the monarchs is more than a sign of the changing season. These butterflies are seen as messengers, symbolizing the return of loved ones in spirit and serving as a beautiful reminder of the enduring connections between generations.

Traveling thousands of miles across North America, they depend on healthy habitats, including in parks, to rest, feed, and continue their journey.

What animal makes you feel connected to your family or community?

Several parks across the country host cultural Day of the Dead programming, including San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, among others.

A children’s grief workshop at the Drew’s Hope Grief Center today was a perfect way to honor and remember Drew Michael Taylor on his Nov. 1 birthday. Thanks to our facilitators who led the workshop and the families who trusted us to companion with them on the difficult grief journey.

The Shippensburg Kids Events Committee is excited to recognize this year’s winners across all six categories: Individuals, Business, Community Groups/Organizations, Fire/EMS Organizations, Sports Groups, and Scouts & Youth Groups.

👏 Thank you to everyone who participated, showed off their Halloween spirit, and helped make this year’s parade so much fun! We also extend our appreciation to our volunteers, supporters, and everyone who came out to celebrate with us.

If you’d like to join our DMTF float tonight, let us know! Our theme is “Grief Support Isn’t Scary”’so any kid-friendly non-scary costume is appropriate.

Shippensburg Halloween Parade helpers are needed! We'd love to have our DMTF grief support program families and any willing volunteers join us on Sat. Oct. 24 with our float/walking unit. We need helpers to give out candy, walk with us, carry our banner, etc. This year's theme is "Grief Support Isn't Scary" so you can wear any kid-friendly, non-scary Halloween outfit (or your DMTF swag). Email us at [email protected] or leave a message at 717-532-8922 so we can confirm and give you all the details! The parade starts at 7 p.m. and we're in the 4th division (lining up between S. Prince and E. Orange).
