Dog & Cat Shelter, Inc. Our Vision: Every home has a loving pet and every pet has a loving home. Our shelter also has individual outdoor runs with inside loafing areas.

Our mission: To be a safe haven for stray and surrendered pets until they can be adopted, rehabilitated or returned to their owner. We have room for individual accommodations for 38 dogs and 98 cats, but have had up to 65 dogs and 165 cats at one time. The shelter has accommodations for new arrivals, for those ready for adoption and for sick or injured animals. We have three 160' x 44' play areas and a half mile circular walking path, where volunteers regularly exercise the dogs awaiting adoption. The Shelter houses an average of 150 animals per day. We are a No Kill shelter which means we only euthanize for extreme injury, illness or extreme aggression. Our special programs include Better Canine and Senior Dog Project.

💕 Meet Meredith! 💕

🌟 Meredith is estimated to be about a year old! She came into the shelter as a young mom with her two kittens, Izzie and Christina. Both of her babies have been adopted to amazing families. Meredith was very protective of her kittens, so she came off very mean towards other cats in the beginning. As of recently, she has been reassessed with other kitties and has done great! She absolutely loves to play and chase all things in sight. She is still very young and has a fresh mind. Meredith is ready to go to a home that will give her all the love and cuddles that she longs for. She is super friendly towards people and just loves to explore around. This young girl would appreciate lots of toys and comfy beds in her new home. As of right now, we are not sure how she would do in a home with dogs. With time and space, she could do well in a home with other cats that love to play and will mind their boundaries.

🥜 Meet Peanut! 🥜

🌱 Peanut is estimated to be a 3 year old Pit Bull Terrier mix. It is impossible not to fall completely in love with this sweet googly-eyed boy! With his endearing major overbite and silly personality, he is a true treasure. He knows no strangers and will happily jump right up to shower you with affection. Peanut gets along nicely with other dogs and barely notices cats. He loves treats and wanders right into his crate! On the leash, Peanut has an enthusiastic strategy of wanting to drag you along to every new adventure, so his future family will definitely need a good sense of humor and a little patience as he works on his walking manners. If you are ready to love a silly, loyal, incredibly sweet boy who will adore you right back, Peanut is ready to leap right into your heart!

✨ October 27 marks the beginning of Día de los Mu***os - the special night when the spirits of our beloved pets are welcomed back home. 🐾🕯️

In some celebrations, today is dedicated to remembering beloved pets. Some families create ofrendas (altars) adorned with their pets' favorite treats, toys, photos, and keepsakes, honoring the belief that their spirits return to visit.

✨ Meet Shasta & Parsnip! ✨

🌻 Shasta is estimated to be a 5 month old Border Collie mix. She is pure puppy energy and nonstop fun! She knows no strangers, greets everyone like a best friend, and brings a lot of wiggly excitement wherever she goes! Being a young puppy, Shasta is still working on her doggie manners. She is still getting the hang of walking nicely on a leash, though she is so eager to please that training will be a treat! She is obsessed with chasing and fetching balls, and will happily run into her crate if you toss a ball inside for her. Shasta gets along great with other dogs, plays no mind to cats, and already knows how to sit when mealtime rolls around. She would thrive in an active home ready for fun, games, and basic puppy training where she can show off her clever mind!

🌱 Parsnip is estimated to be about 7 years old. Just like the root veggie, she likes to burrow and bury herself in quiet dark places. She is a super darling girl, but she is very shy. She has yet to come out of her kennel since she's been here! We believe that with the right person, she'll begin to come out of her shell and allow a family to give her all the love in the world. She loves chin scratchies and is very friendly. She might take a while to adjust to a new home, so a patient person is needed for her. She might do well in a home with other calm animals. Parsnip needs a warm, comforting home with plenty of hideaway spaces to call her own!

✨ Chloe is estimated to be about 4 years old. She has a super sweet personality and is very loving. She has done very well adjusting to the shelter and the other calm kitties. Chloe is an avid window watcher so she'd appreciate a kitty tower next to a window in her new home. Chloe is a treat lover like most of the fur babies here. She enjoys belly rubs and forehead scratches. So much so, she might drool! (That just means she likes you!) Chloe has a bit of a derpy look to her. Just makes her more unique and interesting. Chloe is ready for a calm, easy going home to call her own!

☁ Meet Missy! ☁

🍂 Missy is a confident Chihuahua mix who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to show a little sassy personality. She is estimated to be about 5 years old. She is an independent girl who is far more interested in checking out her surroundings and taking in new sights than clinging to your lap. She gets along well with other dogs in group plays time outside and does great around cats, face to face. Because she has a sensitive throat and does not pay much attention to leash pressure, she prefers to be carried or walked on a soft, supportive harness. She also appreciates her mealtime space and should be fed separately from other pets. Missy is a fun little lady who will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a spunky partner!
