On Saturday July 18th Peninsula Art Association is hosting a plein aire paint out during Sequim’s Lavender Festival.
We will be meeting and painting at Olympic Bluffs Cidery and Lavender Farm located at 102 Finn Hall Road. All media is welcome. All substrates must be stamped and painted that day to be considered for awards. Stamping will begin at 9am.
There are lots of inspiring things to paint at this beautiful location including mountains, water views and interesting buildings and fields of lavender. There will be music, food vendors, and kite flying to provide a festive atmosphere. 2000-3000 people are expected to visit the farm during Lavender Weekend. It can be a challenge to paint with distractions however it presents an excellent opportunity to demonstrate to a large audience the art of plein aire painting. Artists may have prints of their work for sale near their easels.
A reception and award ceremony will be held at the Pioneer Park Club House located at 387 E Washington in downtown Sequim. Entries must be submitted at this location by 3pm. Paintings will be displayed on table easels unframed. We are very proud to have as our judge, Joyce Hester of Port Townsend. (www.joycehester.com)
First prize $350
Second prize $200
Third prize gift certificates
The public is invited to attend the award ceremony and to view and purchase art from 4-7pm
