The boys are back at LSH 🙌 three successful neuters! Staying a night or two inside before going back to their pens. Moshi is a little loopy still but Brimsley and Bugsy went straight to their hay pile. 😊

Pretty crazy how genetics can play a factor,Robin and Charlie Brown have great teeth, whereas Kiki and Batman do not (all the same age)

And Lilly, our older lady of course (almost 11), has significant wear on her teeth (plus a few that are gone)

Mush diets are a new normal ❤️

Incredibly grateful to be able provide these babes with the care they need 🥰

Well, this is the only pic I got today, of Ellie being a sassy pants🤣 but everyone was pretty darn good for Dr. B today!

We had already gotten their weights prior to the appointment, so it went so smooth!

No chasing, everyone was stalled so it was easy to put a halter on them.
I held them
Dr. B examined them
Zach got all the vaccines and dewormer ready.
Boom, fast!!!

Definitely our fastest herd exam for all 20 of them!

Widget and waddles got a horn trim

Batman’s teeth are wearing so he is starting on some pellets (soaked)

Lilly’s pellets are being increased to free feed to see if we can get her to gain some weight.

Everyone else is healthy and perfect (although some are chunky 😂….not trying to name names but Infinity…despite her diet is a whopping 236lbs eek!)

We might be getting a treadmill for her (seriously, may add one to our wishlist to force her lazy b***y to exercise)

Did you know that we have known Dr. B since before she was even in town? We used to drive our babes over two hours to go see her!

Pretty cool that she has been with our babes and seen our sanctuary grow since the beginning!

As always, huge thank you to Board Veterinary Services for always ensuring our babes are healthy 🥰

They are truly the best!!!

Tofu tends to get a pretty bad rap.

Did you know that we couldn’t stand it once upon a time?

Turns out we just didn’t know how to cook it.

We know, it’s been awhile since we posted some compassionate food on here 🤦‍♀️

But this recipe rocked!!! (I-Shayna, made it up 🤣)

This is one of our favorite ways to make it! It’s so easy! We use super firm tofu slice it, dip it in some liquid just egg and then dip it in some gluten free bread crumbs. Add any spices you want! Bake @375 for about 20 min.
(Firm tofu will work but squeeze it first and if you have time freeze it then thaw it then squeeze it, it changes the texture!)

It’s crispy and delicious!

We used it last night to make a tofu Parmesan! (With nutritional yeast instead of the Parmesan) Though I would prefer Rebel Brand Cheese Parmesan 😅 they are simply the best vegan cheese brand.

Paired it with some grilled zucchini and Brussel sprouts with sun dried tomatoes. And of course noodles and marinara.

Good morning!!! Question for anyone who is knowledgable with turkeys!!!

What breed do you think Asha is??

About him:

he is approximately 6 months old & very tall! Towers over Tino our bronze boy by at least 6 inches.
Very long slender legs.
Just now starting to grow his snood & has not gobbled yet.
He is about 20lbs. (For comparison- Tino our bronze boy last weighed in at 27lb)
We are under the impression he is a broad breasted white. The more black his feathers get the more we are wondering.@

Here is what has us questioning that:

His long slender legs
&&&&
His feathers are starting to get black on them.
Also he seems to carry himself a bit different than a B*W.

(He now has about 13 different feathers that have black marks on them)

Maybe only time will tell?

Update: remember the guineas??? They stayed with Debra Pavlich-Boaz for a couple weeks and as of today are on their way ...

Update: remember the guineas??? They stayed with Debra Pavlich-Boaz for a couple weeks and as of today are on their way to their new forever home at Tikkun Olam Farm Sanctuary- A Healing Community.

A special thank you to Jorden Meade for transporting these cuties and Deb from rainshadow equine sanctuary for hosting them and driving them to meet Jorden!

We know these babes have a great life ahead of them 😍
