Cora, Oswald, Pickles and about 60 other cats are almost ready to take off for the Pacific Northwest on tomorrow's lifesaving pet transport!

This flight is part of two key efforts: 1) Our 30-challenge to fly 250 shelter pets to safety, and 2) our ongoing relief efforts to help Iowa rebuild after two bouts of devastating flooding in recent years. Your support not only makes the immediate impact of helping pets get adopted—it makes a longterm impact for communities recovering from disaster.

Thank you to our sending shelters in Iowa: Humane Society of Northwest Iowa People For Pets, and Kossuth County Tails of Hope Rescue. And to our receiving shelters in Washington and Oregon: Embrace a Discarded Animal Society, PAWS - Progressive Animal Welfare Society, The NOAH Center, Seattle Humane, and Oregon Humane Society

We'll update you when our pets land safely tomorrow!

Have you ever wanted to volunteer for Greater Good Charities?

Sign ups are now open for two volunteer opportunities in Tenino, Washington. You can help us build an enclosure for endangered wolves OR plant native plants to restore the Puget Sound prairie!

From June 4th-June 8th, we’re looking for volunteers to propagate native plants at a working nursery, prepare and plant an active restoration site, and care for the existing prairie in the Puget Sound. This is one of the most threatened ecosystems in the Pacific Northwest, and YOU can help save it.

From June 5th-June 13th, our team will be at Wolf Haven International for a rare, hands-on sanctuary build to support endangered wolves. You can work alongside our construction team to install fencing and rebuild a wolf night house!

Follow the link for more details and to sign up: https://hubs.ly/Q04j68rw0

Want to volunteer but don’t live in Washington? Check out the link to view opportunities in other areas and sign up for updates on new projects!

140 pets are safe thanks to the first two flights of our transport challenge this month. But with 110 pets still in need, we need your help to get our next flight off the ground on May 30!

This flight will be heading from Iowa to the Pacific Northwest, and it's part of a greater relief effort. We responded when devastating flooding hit Iowa in June 2024, and again when flooding from Hurricane Helene delivered a second blow in September 2025. We've been helping communities rebuild through immediate relief efforts, as well as spay/neuter clinics and several pet transports in the last two years.

Now, Iowan pets like Pickles need you. This resilient, remarkable cat was rescued with severe frostbite and lost parts of both ears and his tail. But Pickles weathered the storm and came out the other side ready to find his person.

Will you help fly Pickles to a better life? Click below to fly him and dozens of other shelter pets to Seattle Humane and our other receiving shelters in the PNW this May. Donate today to save lives! https://hubs.ly/Q04j54Ql0

On May 19th, 60+ shelter dogs and cats flew to new homes, and you made it happen.

Southern shelters are under real pressure right now: rising costs, more pets being surrendered, and the full force of kitten season. This transport moved animals from overcrowded shelters to parts of the country where adopters were ready and waiting.

This was one flight in our spring initiative to transport 250 shelter pets in 30 days. We are so grateful for every donor who makes these transports possible, and to Hartz for sponsoring this one.

We have 2 flights left, and the next one takes off on May 30th.

Every animal on a Greater Good Charities transport already has a receiving organization waiting before they ever leave the ground. Planning starts two weeks out — health certificates, crate sizes, ground transport, seasonality. Every detail exists to make sure the journey is safe from start to finish. Because getting there matters just as much as arriving.

In the past, Greater Good Charities’ construction team has built enclosures for tigers rescued from facilities featured in Netflix’s Tiger King and helped organizations like Seaside Seabird Sanctuary rebuild after Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Now, we’re ready for our next project!

This June, our team is heading to Wolf Haven International for our first ever construction project to help wolves.

These unique canines need unique enclosures. Wolves are incredible diggers and climbers, so fencing is important. As we replace two dilapidated spaces with a larger new one, we’ll install 600-650 feet of custom fencing to keep wolves safely in the sanctuary, with plenty of room to roam.
Plus, we’ll be constructing a new night house—a small denlike shelter—from the ground up, to keep the wolves protected from the elements.

Wildlife rescued or born in captivity need safe spaces to heal, live, and grow. With every new build, our team works to give wildlife––be they seabirds, tigers, or wolves––safe homes!

We’re urgently raising funds to provide emergency packs filled with essential supplies and pet goods to veterans experiencing crisis—and the pets that many of them love and care for.

When Michael* arrived at his local Greater Good Charities-backed veterans-support event, he seemed, at first, in disbelief. Tables were lined with free soap, deodorant, toothpaste, and other hygiene and pet supplies—all for veterans like Michael facing a crisis in affordability, slashed relief funding, and the risk of homelessness.

Volunteers noticed Michael holding something—it was a box of soap from his favorite brand, one that he could no longer afford. Michael quietly asked if he would be able to take a bar or two with him. After we packed a bag for him filled with several of each essential item, his response was simple, but emotional. “God Bless You—and thank you for helping me.”

You can make a difference this Memorial Day: just $25 provides a veteran like Michael with a relief kit filled with necessities and renewed hope. Give now, keep events and support like this alive, and honor our veterans—and their pets—with action.

Over 32,000 veterans will face the experience of homelessness tonight.

We’re urgently raising funds for unhoused veterans across the country dealing with inadequate resources, slashed funding, and soaring prices.

$25 provides an emergency pack filled with essential supplies, pet food, and more to our heroes in crisis—and the pets that many of them love and care for.

As most homeless shelters do not allow animals, Greater Good Charities is also working to renovate and expand shelters to accommodate more pets, serve more veterans, and keep loved pets and caretakers together.

“We served our country. We have a purpose. We just need a little help.”

This Memorial Day, honor our veterans and their service by bringing shelter and supplies to those that need it most.

Donate now to support unhoused service members and their pets across the nation—and help send so much more than ‘a little help’ to our heroes in need.

Happy World Turtle Day!

We recently worked with Mississippi Aquarium to help these cold-stunned sea turtles get rehabilitative care. Now, they’ve officially returned to the wild! Because so many sea turtle species are endangered, every turtle we can save matters. 🐢

How are you going to celebrate World Turtle Day?
