Urban Impact Seattle

Urban Impact Seattle We work to break the cycle of generational poverty and bring about a world where everyone is engaged and thriving in community. It’s All About Relationships.

When people thrive, communities thrive. Founded in 1987 to address the complex realities of urban poverty in Seattle’s Rainier Valley, Urban Impact was built on the principles of Christian Community Development and a unique relationship with two neighborhood churches, Emerald City Bible Fellowship and Rainier Avenue Church. Focused on strengthening families and raising leaders, Urban Impact partne

red with people in the neighborhood to address issues surrounding education, youth development, family, health, economic stability and racial reconciliation. Generational poverty has social, material and spiritual implications. Breaking it requires a holistic approach that addresses both the personal and systemic challenges of poverty. We see a healthy community that supports and promotes healthy relationships. One with a strong education system, opportunities for young people and a thriving local economy that provides stability to families. A community that is safe and promotes physical and emotional health, racial justice and is rooted in a spiritual foundation.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

On this Memorial Day, we also reflect on the countless servicemen and women of color who served with courage and sacrifice while still facing injustice, discrimination, and inequality here at home.

We remember the Tuskegee Airmen.
The Japanese American soldiers who served while their families were held in internment camps.
The First Nations people who gave their lives while their lands, cultures, and sovereignty continued to be overlooked and challenged.

And today, we also acknowledge the 6th anniversary of George Floyd’s death. A moment that awakened painful truths and renewed conversations around racial justice, dignity, and our shared humanity.

As we remember those we have lost, may we continue building communities rooted in reconciliation, justice, compassion, and hope for future generations.

Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day.

There’s something powerful happening in our community.

Entrepreneurs are stepping into purpose.
Families are growing stronger.

Neighbors are building something that lasts.
And none of it happens alone.

It continues through what’s ahead:
• our Summer Enrichment Program, creating space for youth to learn, grow, and stay connected
• our Sharks Pitch Competition, supporting entrepreneurs as they build and launch their businesses

“the potential they have is not imagined that the potential is reality and they need to have that encouragement…”

Tomorrow is your opportunity to step into that story.

Come be part of what God is doing.

Community wellness plays an important role in building resilient neighborhoods.

When individuals and families have access to spaces that support physical health, encouragement, and connection, they are better equipped to thrive. Wellness programs not only strengthen the body but also create opportunities for neighbors to connect, encourage one another, and build lasting relationships.

Through Rainier Health & Fitness, Urban Impact provides programs that help community members pursue healthier lifestyles while strengthening the sense of community across Rainier Valley. These shared spaces make it possible for people of all ages to grow stronger together.

Transformation takes root when we slow down to listen and pay attention to what’s real.

Every community carries challenges that aren’t always voiced—but change begins when we’re willing to bring those realities into the open. In spaces marked by trust and courage, healing and restoration can begin.

Holy Innovation 2026 creates an environment where these conversations can take place—where leaders and community members can acknowledge challenges together and begin moving toward transformation.

Because healing begins with honesty.

What’s one challenge your community is facing?

Every week, Urban Impact staff and volunteers show up—walking alongside young people through conversations, challenges, and moments of growth. In these relationships, youth find more than encouragement. They find a place to ask honest questions, build confidence, and begin to see what’s possible for their future.

This is what support looks like: not just guidance, but someone who stays. Through these steady relationships, young people are developing leadership, strengthening character, and stepping into new opportunities. Because when young people are known, supported, and believed in—they don’t just grow.

They thrive.

Who has been a consistent presence in your life—and how did it shape you?
