This is a repost from our Community Hub partner @wahealthoutreach! You can find fantastic stories like this in their newly launched newsletter (which you should totally subscribe to!):
You may have seen our spring newsletter finally come out yesterday. We’ll see if we manage to send out the other three this year! 😅 James and Bullchild were featured - we have had the privilege of caring for Bullchild regularly since James adopted her as a young puppy last year. is upon us again, and we truly need community support at this time to continue our operations. Please consider a gift to help us deliver this community care! Link in bio or comments.
James identifies as Native, disabled, and low income. He named his puppy Bullchild after his mom who passed away - it was her last name. Bullchild has brought so much joy to James, and in turn James has taken truly incredible care of her. James’ lack of ability to pay for veterinary care should not deprive him of the experience of sharing his life with a dog he loves - and it hasn’t, thanks to you!
James brought Bullchild right on time to get her first exam, vaccines, microchip, and parasite treatments, and he never missed a booster appointment. He has visited regularly at to pick up flea treatments and pet food/supplies, and to have Bullchild’s nails trimmed. It’s always so good to see them.
After many months of building relationships with James and Bullchild, we were trusted to have Bullchild spayed at our recent spay/neuter clinic with SNAPS. She was coming into her first heat, so we were right in time to prevent an unwanted litter. She has been recovering well at home.
Before we know it, Bullchild will be due for her annual exam and vaccines - and we know James will be by her side to make sure she is healthy and safe. With your support, our team can continue to be there to nurture and safeguard human animal bonds in our communities like the beautiful one shared by James and Bullchild. With regular access to veterinary care and nutritious food, Bullchild will be able to spend many happy years with her dad, who loves her so much.
Shoutout to Lan Johnson for taking these beautiful photos!
