With a few days left in the month, we want to remind folks of our Items of the Month!

- Canned Fruit
- Soup
- Canned meat
- Drink mix packets (anything from electrolyte drinks, coffee, cocoa, etc.)
- Spices/Condiments (standard household kitchen size amounts)

These items offer variety on our shelves and after surveying neighbors, we know they’re some of the most sought after items. If you’re planning to grocery shop soon, please consider throwing an item or two in your cart on behalf of the neighbors who rely on Ballard Food Bank for their weekly groceries. Thank you!

We’ve partnered with Jim Eichner, founder of the Food Bank Farm in Snohomish, for almost five years. The growth of this program has been exponential! We’re out there every Monday and we could use a helping hand to fill our produce bins. Are you in?

The Free Summer Meals Program helps keep kiddos fed while school is out!

As a joint program through United Way King County, Seattle Parks and Recreation, and Seattle Human Services Department, these meal sites served about 240,000 meals across King County last year.

More and more families face shrinking food budgets due to restrictive SNAP rules and federal food benefits being rolled back. This program serves kiddos Monday through Friday and helps ease the financial burden on families in our city.

Recently, public radio teamed up with food access at Dance 89.5’s Dance Against Hunger event.

Both of our groups work on bringing our neighbors together in a positive space! Dance 89.5, a local dance station, partnered with us to give their listeners an opportunity to do good in the food bank. Our No Cook station was briefly fashioned into a DJ booth (and it was incredibly awesome) and folks packed No Cook and Home Delivery bags while dancing to hypnotic and dynamic dance tunes.

This weekend we’ll be at Fred Meyer collecting donations! While you do your shopping on Saturday or Sunday, consider picking up some of our most-popular items to drop off on your way out. The following list includes our August Items of the Month.

More hands on deck = more fresh produce in our market! 🥒🍅🫑

Come join us in Snohomish with our Harvest Program as we’re about to enter the busiest harvest season. Enjoy beautiful scenery while making sure our neighbors have access to local, seasonal produce.

More info below:

🍅 We go out every Monday
🍅 This role is physical – will require stooping, kneeling, standing, uneven terrain and carrying 20lbs or more
🍅 We’re out at the Farm 7am – 11am if it’s a high of 80 degrees or more (or from 8-12 if under 80 degrees)
🍅 We can offer a limited number of seats for carpooling from the food bank. Otherwise meet us there!
