Cultivating Leadership & Social Change
CENTER FOR ETHICAL LEADERSHIP
Founded in 1990, the Center for Ethical Leadership is a national nonprofit that cultivates leadership and change capacity that advances soc
ial change. We support individual, institutional and community transformation necessary to creating healthy, just and inclusive communities. Our role is to act as a “catalyst for a just society”, by fostering sustainable change and facilitating the development of long-term connections. We are known for community-based collective leadership, ethical leadership, Gracious Space, Peacemaking Circles, and connecting people in learning through Confluences and the Community Learning Exchange. Gracious Space
Gracious Space is a core body of work developed by the Center for Ethical Leadership which has helped over 15,000 people in 30 states and 45 countries to work better together around critical issues. Gracious Space is a spirit and setting where we invite the stranger and learn in public. To learn more about Gracious Space, or to bring it into your community and/or workplace, click here. Peacemaking Circles
Part of our overall Peacemaking and Healing Initiative, the Peacemaking Circle is a leadership practice of deep listening and storytelling to build trust and strengthen relationships. These circles rely on the learning that comes from the collective wisdom embedded in the experiences and stories of all participants. The Confluence is a gathering that brings together a diverse group of people to find creative solutions to a challenging social topic. Structured as a two or three-day retreat, the Confluence gathers people from diverse sectors and perspectives to participate in an in-depth learning process that uses interactive approaches to encourage whole system solutions. The Collective Leadership Storybook: Weaving Strong Communities
Since 2008, the Community Learning Exchange (CLE) has provided opportunities for place-based community change agents to openly examine their challenges, freely exchange best practices and learn how to use the collective leadership framework to solve local problems. The book featured on the left arose from the CLEs, and describes the patterns of working together that encourage collective leadership. To learn more about past CLE's, co-hosting organizations, and getting your own copy of these stories, click here. Our scope of work goes beyond these different programs - get involved and engage with us using Facebook, Twitter, or check out our website at ethicalleadership.org.
