AHJA is looking to expand with new board seats🄰
If you're a senior member in good standing and ready to dedicate your time to the administrative duties of AHJA, consider this rewarding opportunity to make an impact in our community. Self-nominations are welcome!

If a board seat isn’t the right fit, but you’re passionate about getting involved, we encourage you to volunteer your time to help with activities such as Medal Finals, Awards Banquet, Receptions, Membership Drive and more! We can always use a few extra ideas and hands.

🄳Exciting announcement! We are changing the rules around requirements for medal finals! 🄳

The AHJA Board of Directors is excited to share some important news regarding the 2026 AHJA Medal Finals. In an effort to expand opportunities for riders across our community, the Board has voted to invoke an extraordinary rule change to the qualification requirements for this year’s finals.

Our goal is simple: to make it possible for more riders to participate, while staying aligned with the standards and practices used by other respected medal‑organizing bodies. After careful review, discussion, and comparison, we are confident these updates will support broader access without compromising the integrity of the competition.

In summary, the new qualification requirements are as follows and will be added to the AHJA Rule Book:

4.3.2 Qualifying Points To be qualified for finals, a rider must have either:

A) Completed the course in any medal class held at 2'6" or higher at an AHJA‑approved event within the state of Arizona, or

Accrued a minimum of 2 points in any medal class held at a USHJA‑rated show outside the state of Arizona.

We hope to fill the following medal final divisions:

Mini Medal - 2'6"

Children's Medal - 3'

Adult Medal - 3'

Junior/Amateur Medal - 3'3"

We encourage all members to review the full rule description in the AHJA Rule Book, available on our website.

šŸŽ‰Attention young riders šŸŽ‰ and their parents!

AHJA is hosting a webinar designed for middle school and high school students who want to understand what college riding is really like—and how to prepare early.

Hear from a current D1 college rider, Kayla Scherer, sharing her real‑life experience, plus Maggie Anderson, a top academic college riding advisor, who guides families through planning, recruitment, and finding the right fit.

Learn how to start building a strong foundation as early as middle school and explore the many collegiate riding options available—far beyond just Division I.
