Axon is trying to steal the voice of Scottsdale voters — and they’re using bribery and intimidation to do it.

Instead of allowing Scottsdale citizens to vote on the massive Axon project through the normal city zoning process, Axon and its lobbyists pushed the decision up to the state level, stripping away the rights of local residents.

Campaign donations flowed to politicians who agreed to side with Axon over the public.
Governor Katie Hobbs has aligned herself with Axon.
Joseph Chaplik is standing up for the citizens — not for corporations.

This is a blatant attack on local democracy.

If you are a Scottsdale resident please write to governor Hobbs and ask her to veto this.

It sets a very dangerous precedent for big companies and cities… it shows them they can buy their way through the legislative process

Wow just WOW!! I love that the representative from Peoria sponsored the bill and is telling Scottsdale they need to put up more apartments…

The danger here is that everyone is ignoring Scottsdale.. this now will impact All cities with 200k or more Barry Graham and Jan Dubauskas fought hard to stop this

How dare Scottsdale voters think their constitutional right to have the final say on apartments should trump the desires of a well-connected company?

Yesterday, Vice Mayor Jan Dubauskas and I testified against the SB1453 'Striker Bill' at the State Legislature that would undo a constitutionally sanctioned ballot referral for 1,900 apartments in North Scottsdale.

Residents tell us overwhelmingly that they want to vote on this project. The striker bill denies them that constitutional right.

Please email state legislators to voice your concerns with SB1453.

WOW.. this project is back with a name change from 2023 from Ironwood to Mercardo VIllage located - at 10301 N 92nd Street (Mercado).. Trying to still shove more apartments into the faces of the citizens that had to FIGHT to get the council to send it back and say no.. Thank you PC Gonzalez & PC Kaminisky to have enough sense to say no to this project City of Scottsdale - Government Save Scottsdale Protect Scottsdale

This group is all about high density multi - use apartments… the love of urbanization overrides the ability to listen to the citizens… In fact it is easier for this group to ignore or condemn the citizens of Scottsdale for reaching out than it is to be rationale and listen to the people that voted them in.
