HUGS - Heads-Up Guidance Services

HUGS - Heads-Up Guidance Services Accessible, professional mental health care for all! 💛 Volunteer-powered, community-rooted, and Savannah-based.

HUGS’ services are made possible by community donations and dedicated volunteers. HUGS’ counselors all volunteer their time and expertise to make counseling affordable. They are committed to providing exceptional services to the Chatham County’s under-served population without using taxpayer dollars (i.e. government-funded programs such as Medicaid) as a funding source. HUGS is bridging the gap in

health services and filling a critical need – NOT at the expense of local taxpayers, but rather to the benefit of local employers and the Savannah community at large. What Makes HUGS Different? HUGS partners with existing community resources to provide a full range of services, not only to assist individuals in realizing their potential, but also to foster a positive relationship between participants and their community. HUGS is unique because its model of service emphasizes participant accountability as well as counseling provided by qualified professionals.

HUGS is honored to be recognized by SIDC for its 12 year commitment to the prevention of human trafficking.

| During Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to shine a light on the importance of mental wellness — especially for single mothers who often carry the weight of caring for their families while navigating life’s many challenges.

At Shelter From the Rain, Inc., we believe that healing, support, and self-care are essential parts of building strong families and stronger communities. We are incredibly grateful to HUGS - Heads-Up Guidance Services for presenting to the mothers in our mentorship program last week about the importance of mental health, emotional wellness, and seeking support without shame.

Because of this meaningful partnership, we are proud to share that 23 mothers in our 2026 "Mothers with Mentors" mentorship program will receive mental health assessments and counseling services through HUGS. This opportunity will provide our mothers with the tools, guidance, and support they need to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being.

Thank you, HUGS, for helping us remind these amazing mothers that their mental health matters too. Together, we are breaking stigmas, building hope, and creating healthier futures for families in our community.
