Homestead Exemption deadline extended until July 31, 2026.

🏡 Exemption Deadline Extended to July 31, 2026!

The Chatham County Board of Assessors mailed the 2026 Notice of Assessments today, Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

As a result, homeowners now have until Friday, July 31, 2026, to file a Property Assessment Appeal or apply for a Homestead Exemption under the extended filing period established by recent legislation.

Ask Yourself: Do you have a Homestead Exemption on your property?

✔ Yes? You do not need to reapply. However, you may be eligible for additional property tax savings through:

🔹 Senior Exemptions (available for qualifying homeowners age 62 or older)
🔹 Disability Exemptions
🔹 Veterans Exemptions for qualifying disabled veterans

✔ No? If you own and occupy your home as your primary residence, you may be eligible to apply for a Homestead Exemption and also qualify for additional exemptions.
