Today, we are switching things up! We will NOT be conducting door-to-door lit drops, outreach, or community cleanup. However, our community engagement continues by PHONE! 📞

I know voter education may not always receive the most likes, comments, or even shares, but we must and will continue pressing forward because we know somebody is being reached, somebody is learning, and somebody needs this information.

💚❤️ IT’S WEDNESDAY — AND WE’RE PUTTING THE FOCUS ON HER!

We may be starting a little later today, but we are still showing up because there is too much to talk about and too much practical information to share.

Last time, we started with VISION.

Today, we are continuing that journey by talking about motherhood, caregiving, disability, workforce preparedness, customer service, professionalism, civic readiness, entrepreneurship, and what it means to keep moving forward when your path does not look like everybody else’s.

🎨 DREAM IT. ACHIEVE IT. YOU ARE THE COLOR.

Today’s picture is intentionally black and white.

Why?

Because you are the color.

Your life does not have to look like somebody else’s.

Your journey may include motherhood.

Caregiving.

Disability.

Returning to the workforce.

Starting over.

Building a business.

Learning differently.

Moving at a different pace.

Creating your own opportunity.

The page may start out black and white, but you decide what colors belong in your story.

Sometimes achieving the dream means pushing forward.

Sometimes it means slowing down.

Sometimes it means asking for help.

Sometimes it means using accommodations.

Sometimes it means adjusting the plan.

Sometimes it means learning a new skill.

Sometimes it means creating the opportunity yourself.

Different does not mean less capable.

You may not control the situation, but you can control how you respond to it.

Professionalism is not about changing who you are. It is about learning how to present the best version of yourself in the environment you are in.

♿ DISABILITY & WORKING DIFFERENTLY

Not everybody’s body works the same.

Not everybody has the same energy level.

Not everybody learns the same way.

Not everybody can work the same schedule or complete a task in the same way.

That does not mean they have nothing to contribute.

Sometimes the better question is not:

“Can I work?”

Sometimes it is:

“What does working successfully look like for me?”

That may mean flexibility.

That may mean accommodations.

That may mean remote work.

That may mean self-employment.

That may mean contract work.

That may mean creating an opportunity instead of waiting for one.

❤️ THE JOURNEY BETWEEN MOTHERHOOD, CAREGIVING & STILL SHOWING UP FOR YOU

As women, many of us are carrying several roles at the same time.

Mother.

Caregiver.

Employee.

Entrepreneur.

Student.

Community leader.

Advocate.

Mentor.

And sometimes we are also carrying our own challenges while trying to support everybody else.

So we have to ask real questions:

How do I stay flexible without losing myself?

How do I stay professional when life is difficult?

How do I advocate for myself?

How do I communicate what I need?

How do I continue learning?

How do I balance responsibility without pretending I can do everything?

How do I adjust when something no longer works?

🗳️ CIVIC READINESS STILL CONNECTS

People sometimes ask why we connect workforce preparedness, disability, entrepreneurship, family life, customer service, and civic engagement.

Because in marginalized communities, we are living all of those things at the same time.

The decisions happening around us can affect:

Our jobs
Our businesses
Our schools
Our housing
Healthcare
Transportation
Accessibility
Public safety
Our children
And our families

That is why civic engagement is bigger than Election Day.

It is knowing what is happening around you.

Knowing your rights.

Knowing who represents you.

Asking questions.

Speaking up.

Understanding how decisions affect your household.

And being prepared to advocate for yourself and your community.

Sometimes we are doing all three at the same time.

That is real life.

And that is why Focus On Her is not just about encouragement.

It is about practical preparation.

T.I.A. Through It All is continuing to take the work directly into communities across the West and East sides of Savannah — and wherever the community needs us, we’re coming!

We are working in a mobile capacity, meeting youth, women, families, and residents where they are and bringing education, mentorship, resources, creativity, outreach, conversations, and support directly into our neighborhoods.
