We’re incredibly proud to see the work of the students from the Berklee Africana Studies Take Me to the River capstone course featured with a dedicated program at the Raindance Film Festival in London: https://lnkd.in/g6a6g7Xh

5 student documentary films exploring the African diaspora through music and dance were selected to screen at one of the world’s most respected independent film festivals, with 4 making their world premieres.

Watching these students share their work on an international stage is one of the most meaningful parts of this collaboration.

When we developed this course, the goal was simple: to give students the opportunity to tell powerful, personal stories through film while connecting their Africana Studies education with real-world documentary practice.

Seeing these films embraced by Raindance for the 2nd year in a row is a testament to the creativity, dedication, and vision of these emerging filmmakers.

Congratulations to Chloe Clarke Smith, Rianne Thomas, Samuel Apoutou, Maxwell Pauls, and Honor Minors for their outstanding work.

And thank you to Emmett G. Price III and Michael C. Mason, Ph.D. for championing these voices.

The future of documentary filmmaking is in good hands!
