Over the past few months, our Safety Net Services programming has been filled with connection, care, and community 💙

✨ We held a beautiful Valentine’s Day celebration for our Intensive Case Management (ICM) participants—complete with great food, relaxing massages, and rejuvenating yoga.

🧠 Our weekly workshops continue to provide safe spaces for ICM participants to focus on mental health and wellness, building tools for healing and resilience.

🍽️ Through our weekly hot meal initiative, we’ve been able to ensure consistent nourishment and connection for those we serve.

🔥 And last but certainly not least, we co-hosted an unforgettable BBQ & Blues event over Easter weekend—bringing together over 200 community members! A huge shoutout to Marcus Moore from our Culinary Business Incubator, who spent the entire day grilling chickens, hot dogs, turkey burgers, and hot links. To top it off, Forrest Fire Barbecue rolled in with 80 pounds of hot BBQ! With a bounce house and Easter festivities (including a visit from 3 Easter Bunnies thanks to Marin City Community Development Corporation 🐰), it was truly a day of joy and celebration.

👏🏾Special recognition to our Safety Net Services Director, Ain Ashby, for leading and bringing all of these impactful initiatives to life, and a big thank you to Nicole White for supporting and helping make it all possible!

We’re proud to continue creating spaces of support, healing, and community. Thank you to everyone who makes this work possible ❤️

Grateful for an incredible community effort 💙 On Saturday March 7, our home health 🩺 initiative focused on bringing care directly to older adults with limited mobility in Marin City.

Thanks to MCCT staff, outreach partners, and our ROOTS team, we served 8️⃣ community members with blood pressure & blood sugar checks, diabetic foot care, and more—right where they are.

Every participant is now being connected to follow-up care, along with support for 🥗food access, mental health, and other essential resources. We also shared the importance of regular health screenings with all participants, and how to monitor health at home.

We were even able to serve someone on the spot who saw our work in the community and asked for care—a powerful reminder of why this work matters. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

This week our students explored an activity called “The Unknown Tasty Food Chain!” 🍎🥕🍓

Each child was given a strip of paper and asked to draw the last new food they tried — or one of their favorite foods. Once everyone finished, we linked all the strips together to create one long, colorful food chain!

This hands-on activity sparked conversations about trying new foods, sharing favorites, and how we’re all connected through what we grow and eat. 🌎💚

We also had a beautiful Garden Volunteer Day with parents and their little ones! From watering and harvesting to exploring and learning together, it was a joyful day in the garden. 🌿👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

🌱 Join us! Volunteer Day is every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 10am–1pm. We hope to see you tomorrow!

We’re bringing health care back to the doorstep. 🏡💙
After a successful door-to-door home health pilot last year with Kaiser Permanente, MCCT is continuing home health screenings for Marin City older adults.

📅 March 7
If you know an older adult with limited mobility who could benefit from blood pressure checks, diabetic foot care, vaccinations, and more—please help sign them up or share this with their family.

This is community care, led by community.

Over the past few weeks in our garden program, students explored plants, food, and community through hands-on learning and joyful play 🌱🥕🍽️

From examining tiny carrot seeds and role-playing what it feels like to grow in a crowded garden bed, to learning about food groups and creating plates filled with favorite foods, students built curiosity and empathy every step of the way.

We reviewed the six parts of a plant and the PLANTS acronym multiple times, reinforcing key concepts through repetition, movement, and imagination.

Garden charades helped students discover the role of scarecrows in protecting crops, followed by plenty of outdoor fun with scarecrow tag. We also connected literacy to garden learning with a read-along of The Ugly Vegetables, sparking thoughtful discussion and reflection.

These lessons brought together science, nutrition, storytelling, and play—helping students grow knowledge, confidence, and connection to the garden at Sausalito Marin City School District 🌿

Big thank you to our staff - Shannon and Alex - who work with these young people every day!
