VetsBoats Foundation VetsBoats shares the magic and beauty of wooden boats to help restore health and well-being to military veterans who suffer from PTSD and Traumatic Injuries.

VetsBoats is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring health and well-being to military veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic injuries through the transformative power of wooden boats and sailing. We are here to inspire and motivate them to participate in marine education, sail training, and restoration on the San Francisco Bay and beyond.

$100
That's roughly what it costs to put one veteran on the water for a day — fuel, safety gear, crew, lunch, the whole thing.

By the end of this year, 1,000 veterans will have sailed with us. Every one of those days free to the veteran.

One table at the November 11 gala keeps that going.

On Saturday we hosted an incredibly special event. Marines from Delta and Echo Companies, 1st Recon Battalion reunited for an afternoon on the water, watching the Blue Angels from that incredible vantage point. That evening they gathered for dinner at Chesty’s in the Marine's Memorial Club. Many of these men hadn’t seen each other in over 50 years! It was an honor to help them come together! Here are a few photos. We’ll put a dedicated album up soon.

What does a day on the Bay actually do?

We ask every participant.
88% report a positive shift in mental well-being.
90% feel a sense of camaraderie and belonging with other veterans.
84% say it improves their confidence and resilience.

And 93 cents of every dollar goes directly to programs and veteran services.

The November 11 Veterans Day Gala funds a full year of these days. Click to get your tickets or become a sponsor: bit.ly/vetsboatsgala2026

Support Vietnam War Marines Reunion for Fleet Week

Next Saturday, October 10, VetsBoats will host the Marines of Delta and Echo Companies, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, for an afternoon on San Francisco Bay during Fleet Week.

Many of these men have not seen one another in years. Our host, Darren Walton, USMC, author of Di Di Mau, has worked for months to bring them back together. VetsBoats is proud to give them a day on the water to do it.

How you can help -

VetsBoats is covering the cost of the sail and the reunion dinner so that no Marine is kept away by cost. A gift of any size helps us reach that goal before the group arrives next weekend.
