National Maritime Day commemorates the first successful transoceanic voyage of a steam-powered vessel—the American steamship Savannah—in 1819; it is a day to celebrate the maritime industry. This Saturday is the annual Master Mariners Regatta viewing sail. Passengers are invited to come "learn the ropes": tall ship line handling, and a chance to climb the rig or bowsprit.

Sail on the largest sailboat on SF Bay, during the annual Master Mariners Regatta on San Francisco Bay, along with scores of other classic wooden boats.
