**8th Grade Field Day Fun! ☀️🎉**
Our 8th grade teams enjoyed an amazing Field Day filled with activities including volleyball, basketball, kickball, crafts, water games, tug-of-war, and much more. It was a day packed with teamwork, laughter, and fun memories!
Students, staff, and teachers also took a walk to the Orpheum to enjoy a movie together. A special thank-you goes to the owners of the Orpheum Theatre, who generously provided both the movie and popcorn at no cost. What a wonderful example of community support!
While Field Day is an SCSD-sponsored event, we'd like to highlight some of our PTSA members who were in attendance. Building relationships and enhancing the student experience for students, teachers, staff, and families is one of the core goals of our PTSA—Parent, Teacher, Student Association.
Featured here are several of our teachers, a student PTSA member, and our PTSA Secretary, who is also an 8th-grade teacher. Seeing our officers and members enjoying time together outside the classroom is incredibly rewarding and a reminder of the positive connections that help strengthen our school community.
The movie selected for the day was *Pressure*, a 2026 film centered on the critical weather forecasting decisions made in the days leading up to D-Day. The story follows Allied meteorologist Capt. James Stagg and Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower as they navigate the tense 72 hours before the invasion, weighing a narrow window of favorable weather conditions across the English Channel.
Since the 8th-grade social studies and ELA curriculum encompasses American history through modern times, the film served as a meaningful complement to the New York State learning standards and provided students with an engaging historical perspective.
To top off the day, burgers and hot dogs were served, making for a fantastic celebration of teamwork, socialization, and school spirit.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day such a success!
