The CDE invites educators, administrators, and school leaders to join a webinar series exploring responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) and effective technology integration in K–12 schools. Huge C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S to our spellers, who blew us away with their spelling know-how on Monday evening. Each and every participant should be very proud of their accomplishments!

Our top three participants were:
1st Place - Aiden F. from Valley Elementary, with the winning word "vermillion"
2nd Place - Owen C. from Tierra Bonita Elementary
3rd Place - Hasini S. from Westwood Elementary

Thank you to every Spelling Bee Chair & PTA President that participated for making this program happen. It is heartwarming to see the students so excited to spell!

Today is California Day of the Teacher, and we're celebrating every educator who shows up for students every single day. 🍎

Our "We Can't Wait!" campaign is a reminder that our students deserve fully funded schools, smaller class sizes, qualified teachers, nurses, counselors and mental health professionals. After decades of disinvestment, we simply can't wait any longer.

May is a special time in our school communities when we take a moment to pause and recognize the many individuals who work hard to ensure our students, educators, and families are thriving.

Acknowledging them with a simple note or a few heartfelt words of appreciation can mean so much to school and district staff, not just this month but all year long. A simple act can go a long way to making someone feel seen, heard, and valued.

Today is California Day of the Teacher, a day to celebrate teachers – past, present, and future. We all remember the special teachers who made a difference in our lives as children, or we dreamt about becoming a teacher after reading a story to our favorite stuffy. Teachers leave a lasting impression.

From principals and nurses to school lunch heroes and classified employees, we celebrate their leadership, compassion, creativity, and commitment to our school communities.

Every day, thousands of dedicated education professionals across San Diego County go above and beyond to ensure students have the support they need to learn, grow, and succeed. We are grateful for all that you do.
