From young children encountering for the first time to lifelong learners expanding their understanding of the world around them, Fleet helps make science accessible, engaging, and relevant for our entire community.

Now, we're proud to help play a role in growing that impact, with an operations-focused pro bono consulting engagement led by Amplified Partners Tom Watlington (Lead), Renee Zau, and Robert Hood.

The idea was simple — flexible dollars can open doors, but expert guidance helps organizations walk through them. In San Diego, that dual approach is already delivering results.

When the Prebys Foundation expanded its Arts Ecosystem initiative last year, San Diego nonprofits had been grappling with new challenges in an unusually turbulent financial landscape.

The foundation stepped in with an innovative multifaceted approach: grants focused on keeping creative spaces accessible and affordable, alongside hands-on consulting teams from Amplified designed to strengthen organizations at a critical moment.

For two local arts organizations — Mosaic Theatricals in Escondido and A Reason To Survive (ARTS) in South County — the combination of funding and expertise became a turning point.

Second chances don’t happen by accident — they’re built with structure, opportunity, and support.

That’s what Rise Up Industries does every day. As a reentry organization serving formerly incarcerated and formerly gang-involved individuals, Rise Up is reducing recidivism and strengthening communities through a unique blend of services and vocational programming.

At the heart of their work is an intensive 18-month program that pairs wraparound support — employment, counseling, education, financial literacy, and life skills — with California Apprenticeship–approved training in their machine shop. Participants train on industry-standard equipment, earn Department of Labor certification, and achieve a 100% job placement rate, opening doors to sustainable futures.

We recently visited Rise Up to kick off a new pro bono consulting engagement focused on Revenue Development and Operations, helping ensure the organization has the systems and strategy needed to keep pace with its growing impact.

With expert guidance from Amplified Partners Tom Watlington (Lead) and Joseph Risse, this engagement will support Rise Up as they continue building pathways to opportunity for individuals and families across our community.
