Mt Etna Neighborhood Park Update

The swings were recently closed off due to a review prompted by the Certified Playground Inspector. This review should be done by end of week (or potentially early next week). From there Parks & Rec will know if a repair is required or if the swings can be reopened. The CTC is working closely with the Area Manager from Parks & Rec and will provide an update once we know more.

If you have similar issues/questions with your local Clairemont park please reach out and we'll help follow-up on it!

Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport is the nation’s top lead polluting general aviation airport. There have been many concerns raised by the community surrounding air pollution as well as noise with the airport.

inewsource, a San Diego based investigative and accountability journalism group, reported in a new investigation published on Sunday called “Heavy Turbulence” about this issue.

To learn more and hear from medical experts, join a panel discussion tonight called “Get the Lead Out: What’s in the Air Around Montgomery-Gibbs”. This discussion is organized by San Diego Pediatricians for Clean Air as part of the 2026 International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week that runs Oct. 18-24

Western Hills Park Update:
CTC met with Parks & Rec this last week and got an update on Western Hills Park play structure. The new parts were ordered ~1 month ago (same as Mt Etna and Mt Acadia). As soon as they are in they will be installed so the play structure will be at full capacity again.

Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about the parks! It's been great to get to know our Parks & Rec Area Manager and see the work they are doing to improve the parks with limited budget. Ground crews have been more present doing things like painting tables & benches, landscaping, etc. They are happy to help with areas community members are concerned about.
