12:33am Sunday: Forward progress of the fire has been stopped, per Incident Command.

11:51pm Saturday: The fire is now 25 acres with a moderate rate of spread, and no structures threatened at this time, per CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire on X.

11:44pm: 5 Type 3 engines, 2 hand crews, 2 water tenders, and logistics support have been requested to respond to the fire tomorrow, per Incident Command.

10:40pm: The fire is now approximately 10 acres with a slow to moderate rate of spread, per Incident Command.

The County has broken ground on a new fire station in Jacumba, launching construction on a modern facility that County Fire and CAL FIRE say will significantly improve emergency response for the rural community. The new Fire Station 43. is expected to open in 2027.

6:16pm: All evacuation warnings have been lifted on the Genasys Evacuation Map. This includes zones SDC-2544, SDC-2545, SDC-2605, SDC-2643, SDC-2644, & SDC-2645. No evacuations remain.
The fire is now 25% contained.

1:18pm: The fire continues to burn in areas of dense, dry vegetation. Ground and aerial resources are making steady progress, reinforcing containment lines and conducting mop-up operations on remaining hot spots.

12:02pm: The fire has been mapped at a total of 2,616.7 acres by CAL FIRE Intel aircraft. Approximately 1,625 acres of the fire are located in the United States, while the remaining 991.7 acres are in Mexico. The complete perimeter is visible on the Watch Duty map under the Active Fire Perimeters map layer.

7:13am: The fire is now 1,000 acres and 5% contained, per CAL FIRE.

10:25pm: The American Red Cross is opening an overnight shelter for Border 6 Fire evacuees at the County of San Diego's Spring Valley Community Center at 8735 Jamacha Blvd, Spring Valley, CA 91977. Pets are welcome and will be supported by the San Diego County Department of Animal Services at the overnight shelter.

The Temporary Evacuation Point located at Regal Edwards movie theater parking lot in Rancho San Diego (2951 Jamacha Rd, El Cajon, CA 92019) is now closed.

9:11pm: The photo at the bottom of this post of the fire at night.

8:18pm: The fire is now 700 acres on the U.S. side and 520 acres in Mexico. One CAL FIRE Hawk will be assigned for night fire suppression operations, per CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire on Facebook.

7:36pm: The fire is at 700 acres and is 0% contained. 2 night-flying copters are assigned to the fire. For tomorrow, an air attack has been requested over the fire at 8am. Additionally, 4 tankers and 5 copters are to be ready to fly at 8am.

6:28pm: The temporary evacuation point has been updated to the western portion of the parking lot at the Edwards Cinema in Rancho San Diego at 2983 Jamacha Rd, per Alert San Diego.

5:47pm: The fire is now 650 acres and is burning at a slow to moderate rate of spread towards the east, per CAL FIRE San Diego on X.

5:19pm: 1 additional type 1 night-flying copter, for a total of 2 night-flying copters, has been requested by air attack.

5:05pm: Evacuation Warnings have been issued for Zones SDC-2544, SDC-2545, SDC-2605, SDC-2643, SDC-2644, & SDC-2645 on the Genasys Evacuation Map. These zones can also be viewed on the Watch Duty map. Prepare to evacuate. People who need extra time or with animals should evacuate now to Steele Canyon High School. 4:23PM The fire activity has significantly increased and is running in alignment with the wind and slope.

4:20PM The fire is at 300 acres and is 0% contained.

3:47PM The fire is now 250 to 300 acres with a rapid rate of spread.

3:14PM The fire is now 200 acres with a moderate rate of spread, with no structures threatened.

2:17PM The fire is 0% contained.

1:55PM One very large air tanker (VLAT) and a lead plane requested by air attack.

1:34PM The fire is now 100 acres.

12:27PM The fire is at 50 acres and is 10% contained. The fire is in a remote area in rocky, difficult terrain. CAL FIRE aircraft have been requested. Potential for extended attack. Mexico actively fought the fire on their side until sunset and they are on the line as of this morning. As of last night the fire crossed the Tijuana River Drainage into the U.S., on the east side of Marron Valley.

12:37PM SR-67 is closed in both directions between Dye Road and Hope St.

12:31PM The fire is now 7 acres burning at a slow rate of spread and holding in the riparian area. This is the first use of the CalFire C130 out of Ramona AAB Air Tanker 122, although the S2 Tankers still have to reload from Hemet.
