It was a GREAT day to be at the San Diego County Fair’s Garden Show!

The presentation made by our President, Chris Chase, won many accolades.  Other presenters throughout the afternoon were also very educational.  As usual, the individual flowers (gladiolas, dahlias) inside the O’Brien building were amazing specimens of perfection and the displays outside were intricate, educational and inspiring! Make sure to build a stop at the Garden Show into your visit to the Fair.  The daily schedule of presenters is available online.

Ticket sales are now on! Solana Beach Eco Rotary is presenting THE LITTLE THINGS THAT RUN THE WORLD

August 1, 2-5pm at Dove Library in Carlsbad.

This is a fun and educational film that uses stunning photography and scientific insight to show how insects serve as the ‘glue of life’. The movie is 1’45” long and there is a short Q & A expert panel after the movie. It’s suitable for all ages, though children ages 7 and older may enjoy it most.

We aim to fill the auditorium so get tickets now for yourself, friends and family.

The Mission Hills Garden Club celebrated our Scholarship Recipients last night at a beautiful home and garden in Mission Hills (Thank you Mike and Ed!)

We would like to thank the garden club scholarship committee and helpers Judith, Peggy, Chris, Kim, Cathi, Elaine, Barbara, Deanna, Michaela, Kory, Steve and Salem.

Two of our four recipients were at the celebration last night - Timothy and Benjamin! We enjoyed talking to them about their plans for the future and we are impressed. All scholarship recipients will get a membership in our garden club and we look forward to seeing them at our meetings and events.

Two previous scholarship recipients came to our party last night to bring us up to date on their past year - Jovanni and Timothy! Jovanni has done a lot of work planting trees and has a plaque with his name on it in San Diego. And, Timothy has been very busy completing his AA degree!
