☀️ Yesterday, our board members Melissa and Katherine attended the Cal-Nev-Ha District of Kiwanis International Division 21 & 31 Governor’s Visit. At the event, participants got to hear from Governor Steve Geraci about his priorities for our Division.

The gathering also included awards, a service project, and the opportunity to network with other Kiwanis International members from across the San Diego region. It was a full day of fun and connection.

One of the great things about being a member of Kiwanis is that whether you are only interested in serving our local community, or want to engage with Kiwanis at the regional, district or international levels, there is something for everyone!

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ It was a beautiful day in and our club was proud to head out to East County to support the annual and march!

Even though it was outside of we believe that it’s important to support and create a positive presence for all LGBTQ children and families, no matter what part of the region they live in.

We appreciate all of our members who helped staff our booth, volunteer for the march, or just attended to show support today!

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ We are proud to support Santee Pride today as volunteers and by hosting a vendor booth - come say hi if you’re here!

While Santee is outside of our neighborhood, we have an unwavering commitment to our LGBTQ youth and families and want to be present for them.

We look forward to supporting many of the smaller pride celebrations throughout the San Diego region this year, and of course, look for us in the San Diego Pride Parade on July 18!

✨ If you haven’t been to one of our club meetings yet, it’s hard to describe what a wonderful experience it is!

In fact, our meetings don’t feel like meetings and we prefer to call them “gatherings.” Sure, we go over some club business and have a featured speaker, but it’s like hanging out with friends old and new, enjoying food, drinks and community together.

Our club is filled with some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, we pride ourselves on having “no drama” or cliques - a rarity for community groups like this - and we get excited to meet the new people who visit us every single time.

Last night was no exception and we really hope you’ll visit us for one of our upcoming gatherings! Don’t hesitate to DM us if you have any questions!

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Our LGBTQ+ elders fought for the community during some of the hardest moments and experienced hate, stigma, loss, invisibility, and so much more in order to make life a little bit easier for those who followed.

It’s important that we learn from, interact with, and advocate for our LGBTQ+ elders so that they have the services and support they need during this phase of their lives.

Please join us at our club gathering this week on Thursday, May 28, for a conversation about issues our seniors face and how we can help, led by Elaine Lewis of Pride Across Generations.

Everyone is welcome to join in to ask questions or listen and learn, and all LGBTQ seniors are welcome to share their experiences during the conversation.

✨ Kiwanis Hillcrest celebrates 5 years of service!

Since forming in June 2021, our club has grown from a handful of dedicated charters members to a roster of over 60, providing thousands of hours volunteer service to the community in that time.

We are proud of what we’ve built, and welcome everyone who shares in our values of community and service. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning, are a former member or guest, or want to check us out for the first time, we invite you to our Five Year Anniversary Celebration. If you are a senior, we want you there to share your experiences and thoughts. If you’re not yet a senior, we need your questions and willingness to learn.
