Mazel tov to our Higher Education Legal Services - HELS team who recently received the MiraCosta College Uprise (Undocumented People Rise in Solidarity and Empowerment) program award. This prestigious honor was in recognition of their dedicated partnership on campus, providing free immigration legal services to students, staff, and faculty.

MiraCosta College’s UPRISE program offers dedicated emergency grants, textbook loans, and annual scholarships specifically designed to support undocumented and mixed-status students.

You’re invited to join an important community conversation surrounding the affordability crisis in San Diego and how it affects families and children on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, 6:00-8:00pm at the Southeastern Live Well Center (5101 Market St., 92114).

The purpose of the evening is to provide a safe space to share your thoughts and experiences making ends meet in your community and the region. Economic Security Project California, San Diego for Every Child, and local leaders will hear from San Diego community members to better understand what it will take to make California more affordable for all.

Many thanks to the young adult stakeholders who gathered on Sunday for a full-day retreat with JFS. These twenty incredible young adults, each deeply committed to building a community where people feel seen, safe, understood, and supported, helped co-create four pilot initiatives centered on key dimensions of wellbeing: Community Service, Jewish Learning, Mental Health, and a six-week Cohort Experience.

The most powerful outcome was the inspiration and connection shared throughout the day. Participants arrived as individuals and left as a community, united and energized by purpose and possibility.

Today, we’re giving a big shoutout to the team at Convergint who recently joined JFS for their annual Social Responsibility Day focusing on acts of service, compassion, and connection.

While at JFS, some of their team assisted with security camera maintenance and training while others participated in a challah bake for families facing hunger and made PB&J sandwiches for families staying in a JFS Safe Parking Lot.

If you’re a family who is facing a temporary challenge or ongoing need, JFS is here to help with fresh and healthy produce and pantry staples at our monthly Drive-Thru Food Distribution.

Looking to make an impact this summer? Join us as a volunteer driver! For many seniors, transportation is one of the biggest barriers to staying healthy, independent, and connected to their community. Volunteer drivers help older adults get to medical appointments, grocery stores, and social gatherings.

As an On the Go driver, you’ll be doing more than providing a ride—you’ll be offering compassion, dignity, and support when it’s needed most. On the Go drivers have flexible schedules and receive mileage reimbursement. Learn more at www.jfssd.org/OTGvolunteer
