Yesterday, on the one month anniversary of the terrorist attack that took the lives of 3 of the Pillars of our community in San Diego a suspicious individual was observed driving around the Islamic Center of San Diego multiple times. The security gaurd noticed the behavior and informed SDPD, they followed the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop. Upon investigation, law enforcement discovered a Large N**i flag inside the vehicle and what appeared to be a bomb. By the grace of Allah, the threat was diffused as the bomb was fake. After questioning the individual was realeased. The bomb may have been fake but the threat is real and ongoing.

In light of the continued threat against ICSD and the Muslim Community we demand:
1. The San Diego Police Department continue their patrol at ICSD.
2. Chief Wahl meet with leadership to discuss long term security measures at ICSD.
3. The City of SanDiego and Mayor Todd Gloria meet with leadership to discuss concerns of the San Deigo Muslim Community.
4. California Governor's Office of Emergency Services and Governor Gavin Newsom address the funding needs to support the safety and security needs of the San Deigo Muslim community.

Last night, I shared a statement from a number of Muslim-led organizations in San Diego following last week’s horrific terrorist attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

I read their letter verbatim, without edits. Their grief, anger, questions, and demands deserve to be heard directly and taken seriously.

The Muslim community is mourning the loss of Amin Abdullah, Nader Awadr, and Mansour Kaziha, three men who sacrificed their lives protecting children, teachers, staff, and community members.

To our Muslim neighbors: your lives matter. Your grief matters. Your safety matters. And your voices must guide how our City responds.

Our beloved brother and martyr Amin Abdullah, who always had a smile on his face, warmly greeting anyone and everyone who entered the masjid. May Allah allow him to be smiling in the highest levels of Jannah.
