This fun and rewarding experience helps children build confidence and improve reading skills, all while enriching the lives of our shelter pets.
 
Designed for children ages 6 to 17, this special event will include reading time with shelter pets, a themed workshop and hands-on crafts!
 
Participants can enjoy activities and create cat wands to enrich the lives of our adoptable cats.

☀️🐾 As temperatures rise, remember that our pets feel the heat too. Here are important tips to help keep your pets safe, comfortable, and cool.
 
What to do:
• Bring pets indoors during extreme heat; if you’re hot, they’re hot too.
• Provide fresh, clean water always; proper hydration is essential.
• Schedule walks and outdoor playtime during the early morning or evening when temperatures are cooler.
• Know the signs of heat exhaustion: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse.
• Protect your pet’s paws! Hot pavement can cause burns. Try the 5-second test (place your hand on the pavement; if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them).
• Provide access to ample shade if they must be outside.
 
What not to do:
• Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a few minutes. Temperatures can become deadly quickly, even with the windows cracked.
• Never leave pets unsupervised near pools; not all pets can swim, and accidents can happen quickly.
 
Heatstroke is a serious and potentially fatal risk for pets. Please share these tips to help spread awareness; prevention can make a big difference in protecting our furry companions.
