CAMFT is disappointed to learn that Governor Newsom has vetoed SB 903. This CAMFT co-sponsored legislation provided critical privacy protections for Californians and ensured that the ethical judgment of a licensed clinician remained at the center of patients’ mental health care. SB 903 passed the legislature by a vote of 114 to 1. This bill’s co-sponsors — CAMFT, California Psychological Association, California Behavioral Health Association, and National Union of Healthcare Workers — will meet later in the fall to determine next steps. A big thank you to all CAMFT members who engaged in support of this legislation, and thank you to Senator Padilla for his leadership with this bill. The veto message can be read here: https://loom.ly/YF9CYgc
