A safe space is more than a room—it’s a lifeline.
It’s a place where LGBTQ+ youth can speak freely, be seen fully, and build community without fear. At RPYA, safe spaces mean mentorship, leadership, healing, and joy.
In a time when so many spaces are being restricted or erased, we are committed to holding the line.
Support that work this Give OUT Day.

Did you know?
LGBTQ+ youth are more than twice as likely to experience persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness compared to their peers—and access to affirming spaces can significantly reduce those risks.

In fact, according to the Trevor Project’s 2025 U.S. National Survey on the Mental Health of LGBTQ+ Young People, 44% of LGBTQ+ young people who wanted mental health care in the past year were not able to get it!

At RPYA, we provide those spaces every day.
On June 4, your support helps ensure LGBTQ+ youth don’t have to navigate this world alone.

It's International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia! Today commemorates the day the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) decided to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder from the International Classification of Diseases in 1990. Today highlights the need for everyone, including q***r people, to feel safe and supported.

LGBTQIA+ people still face discrimination and legal inequality worldwide. According to the 2024 Global AIDS Update, at least 16 countries have punitive laws that criminalize trans people through laws criminalizing gender identity and expression.

Discrimination worsens health outcomes for LGBTQIA+ people, both physically and mentally.

Since the U.S. left the W.H.O. earlier this year, it's important to recognize the negative impact this has on LGBTQIA+ lives in the U.S.

Examples of LGBTQIA+ discrimination include:

- Workplace discrimination.

- Bullying in schools by students and staff.

- Barriers to healthcare.

- Houselessness

- Censorship of LGBTQIA+ books and education.

So how can we help?

- Use inclusive language.

- Ask people for their pronouns.

- Support LGBTQIA+ orgnaizations.

- Regularly engage with q***r community.

- Go to q***r events.

- Educate yourself about policies & current politics.

If you or a loved one need mental health support, these hotlines & warmlines are available and LGBTQIA+ trained:

CalHOPE Warm Line: (833) 371 - 4673

Trans Lifeline (Mon - Fri, 10AM - 6PM): (877) 565 - 8860
