On DAY ONE of Child Abuse Prevention Monthโ€™s Week of Action! ๐Ÿ’™โ

Use your social media, a window in your home or office, or even just your refrigerator to post/share one fact about prevention and strengthening families! You might try connecting small steps youโ€™re taking in the community with the 5 Promotive Factors, for example. Here are a few ideas (in no particular order), to spark your creativity!

- Being a supportive neighbor/friend/community member by making sure the parents and caregivers in your life have breaks, space to breathe, and people they can rely on.
- Using your strengths and skills (for example, painting, data analysis, or facilitation) to support local groups and organizations that need more capacity to reach more families.
- Buying from and supporting local businesses that center kids and families in your community.
- Showing up for the things kids in your life and community care about.
- Celebrate them, play with them, lean into childhood whimsy!
- Being a safe adult! Research shows that even one additional safe adult in a childโ€™s life can make all the difference when they need help.
- Donating to or volunteering at the places that help make sure families have their needs met (food banks, clothing closets, after school programs, and so much more).
- Using your voice to advocate for child and family friendly policies. This includes everything from your local school board to presidential elections!

Child Abuse Prevention month awareness continues to raise awareness around the state in a way that unifies communities around one important cause.

Reducing child abuse and it's impacts on children, families, and communities is a responsibility we all bear. This responsibility goes beyond our personal or professional positions and EVERYONE can contribute.

Thank you to all of those taking time to be a part of this movement. If you're looking for ways to get involved, reach out to your local CASA program.
