A Statement from Capybara Café
We’ve received several inquiries regarding rumors that our Fort Lauderdale location will close on October 14. We want to be clear: Capybara Café Fort Lauderdale is not closing, and there are no plans to close any of our locations.
We also want to address recent allegations concerning the health and welfare of our animals.
Prior to regulatory inspections, we arranged for a veterinarian to examine our animals. On October 6, the USDA conducted an inspection of our Fort Lauderdale location. The official report states:
“No non-compliant items identified during this inspection.”
While the original allegations received considerable media attention, these documented findings deserve equal consideration. We respect the right to peaceful advocacy, but believe public discussions about animal welfare should be based on verified information rather than speculation.
Meanwhile, our work continues. Noah’s Ark Sanctuary recently contributed $3,000 to FWRA’s disaster relief efforts, supporting wildlife rehabilitators in Northwest Florida affected by hurricane damage. We’re also grateful to our partners at Woodside Wildlife Rescue for collecting and delivering much-needed supplies.
We appreciate the continued support of our guests, community, and fellow wildlife organizations.
Our focus remains where it belongs: providing responsible animal care, educating the public, and supporting wildlife welfare.
Our mission is about making a difference, not engaging in distractions.
