Age Friendly S**o’s next luncheon on September 10th will be meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots, bread and dessert. K5 reserves the right to change menu based on availability and cost without notice. Thank you!

Doors will open at 11:30 am with the meal being served at about 12:00 pm at the S**o Elks Club. You can sign up for our luncheon by filling out the attached link or calling our Age Friendly Office at 710-5029 after 10:00 am on 8-14-2026.

We ask if you are ill to please stay home for the protection of all attending.

We have limited seating. If you sign up and your plans change, please call Age Friendly S**o at 207-710-5029 to allow us to give your place to someone else.

Today, Age Friendly S**o’s Community Luncheon brought friends and neighbors together for a delicious meal of chicken penne pasta bake, salad and apple-berry pie.

After lunch, Age Friendly S**o’s own Deb McKinney discussed the WindowDressers program and how homeowners can sign up. This annual program builds custom-made window coverings to help insulate homes in the winter. For more information, contact Age Friendly S**o at 207-710-5029.

For the third summer, S**o resident Lisa Bean is sharing the bountiful beauty of her garden with Age Friendly S**o. Her flowers will brighten the tables at our upcoming Community Luncheons held at the Biddeford-S**o Elks Club in August, September and October. Her thoughtful donation will bring a lovely touch of the summer season to our events. Thank you, Lisa!

Age Friendly S**o was out in force at today’s Camp Ellis HarborFest! Both our shuttle van and CHAT trishaw bike helped visitors get to and from the wharf, and visitors were greeted by our welcoming info table. In all, we had a fun day sharing all the good news that Age Friendly S**o is all about!

With a heat advisory in effect on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, the S**o Transportation Center will be open as a cooling center from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The S**o Community Center Splash Pad (75 Franklin Street) is also available for use, for all ages, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Splash Pad bathrooms are located in the S**o Community Center.

Key steps you can take before and during the heatwave include:

• Check that fans and air conditioning systems are working properly
• Stay hydrated, drinking water throughout the day
• Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day
• Wear light, loose-fitted clothing and avoid dark fabrics
• Check on family and neighbors, especially vulnerable individuals like older residents or those with limited mobility
• Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles
• Stay indoors when you can
