250,000 Meters. Almost There!

As July comes to a close, I'm in the final stretch of my USA 250 Challenge—a personal commitment to row, cycle, and paddle 250,000 meters in celebration of America's 250th anniversary while supporting the mission of Oars of Hope.

This challenge has been about more than numbers.

It's been a reminder of how fortunate I am to still be able to do the things I love after finishing cancer treatment earlier this summer, and how important it is to use those opportunities to make a difference for others.

Every meter has been dedicated to raising awareness and support for families facing Alzheimer's disease.

Thank you to everyone who has followed along, encouraged me, shared a post, or made a donation. Your support means more than you know.

With just a few days remaining, I'm looking forward to crossing the finish line—and then turning my full attention to the Million Meter Mission on Main Street, where we'll invite communities, businesses, and individuals to turn their own passions into purpose.

Three weeks ago, I began the Oars of Hope USA 250 Challenge to celebrate America's 250th birthday while raising awareness for two causes that have touched my life personally—Alzheimer's disease and the importance of early cancer detection.

I'm now 65% of the way there...

🚣 Oars of Hope Spotlight | Episode 1

🎉 We're excited to launch the Oars of Hope Spotlight Series with the kickoff of our USA 250 Challenge—a summer campaign inspired by America's 250th anniversary to raise awareness and support for Alzheimer's education, research, and family services.

Our first Spotlight celebrates our inaugural Friends of Hope event at Jimmy the Greek's in Old Orchard Beach, featuring an outstanding community partner and a wonderful performance by local musician Christie Ray.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. This is just the beginning. Throughout the coming months, we'll be recognizing the businesses, musicians, organizations, and individuals who are helping turn passion into purpose.

What an incredible way to launch our USA 250 Challenge!

As I drove home Friday night, I couldn't help but smile.

Just a few short weeks ago, I was completing radiation treatment, and this was little more than an idea. Thanks to the generosity, encouragement, and enthusiasm of so many wonderful people, that idea became reality.

A heartfelt thank you to Jimmy the Greek's for opening your doors—and your hearts—to Oars of Hope. You provided the perfect venue to launch what we hope becomes a tradition of bringing people together while supporting causes that matter.

🎵 A special thank you to Christie Ray, Christie Ray Music, whose incredible talent, energy, and heart helped create such a fun and welcoming atmosphere. We encourage everyone to follow her music—you'll be glad you did!

💜 We're also grateful to two of Maine's premier Alzheimer's advocates, Tracey Collins and Scott Hardy, producers of the soon-to-be-released documentary Racing Al Scott E Hardy. Your passion and tireless advocacy continue to inspire hope for families facing Alzheimer's every day.

Well...last night's launch at Jimmy the Greeks couldn't have gone much better.

Despite 90+ degree temperatures, we welcomed some great conversations, met some wonderful new Friends of Hope, raised a few hundred dollars, and even convinced Jimmy, and a few adventurous patrons—to climb on the rower!

The best part?

Jimmy invited us back for another night!

🇺🇸 Join us tonight (Saturday) from 5–8 PM as we continue our America 250 Challenge at Jimmy the Greek's.

I'll be working toward my goal of 250,000 meters during July to support the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter the production of the Racing Al documentary.

We'll once again be enjoying great music - with David Bailin, who takes the stage from 6–9 PM.

If you're in the area, stop by, say hello, take a turn on the rower, and help us turn passion into purpose.
