This was a project make with shaky hands and a lot of love! Our community at the firelabs is so generous with their time, patient and reassuring. The metal fabrication is two day workshop with Gabi Madrid that will walk you through the process of building a metal project from start to finish. In this workshop you’ll be building a metal flower from mild steel. You’ll begin by cutting out your flower pieces with the plasma cutter, cleaning up the pieces with the angle grinder and bench grinder. You’ll learn how to shape and form metal with the bender, vice, and other tools. All the pieces will be assembled together with the MIG welder and heated with a propane torch to give it an organic look. You will learn how to finish your metal to make it look like brass and give it a protective coating with paste wax. This workshop is only $225 for non-members of Roswell Firelabs and $200 for current members. You can sign up on our website at roswellfirelabs.org under events page.

TIG welding is the perfect solution for precision welding tasks. It’s great for materials like stainless steel and aluminum due to its clean finish and control. Typical applications include aerospace, automotive, and art, where strength and aesthetics matter. The process is an all-around great solution for most welding projects, as it can bind nearly all metals, but is especially helpful for delicate projects & decorative pieces!
