Traditional systems have built entire care models around a single diagnosis, a single score, a single moment in time, and then called it a complete picture.

It isn't.

Amy O'Dell has spent 30+ years watching what happens when we treat one slice of a person's experience as the whole story. Children get labeled. Families get dismissed. Professionals make decisions with half the information they need, and no one questions whether the framework itself is the problem.

The Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care® was built on a different premise: that you cannot understand a person by isolating one part of them. Biology, attachment, sensory processing, relational history, environment - these don't operate in separate lanes. They are a single system, and they have to be seen that way.

When you stop siloing, you stop missing people.

For many families, the biggest difference sometimes is finally feeling understood.

Instead of uncertainty and vague answers, they found a team with clarity, direction, and a belief in what their child was capable of achieving. That sense of confidence changed more than expectations - it changed the way their family moved through daily life and strengthened their hope for the future.

When families feel supported by people who truly understand and care for their child, the possibilities are endless.

At Jacob’s Ladder, we believe care begins with understanding ❤️

Every person is more than a behavior, more than a diagnosis, and more than a set of challenges.

That belief is at the heart of the Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care® - a model built on the union of science and love.

It brings together rigorous neurodevelopmental assessment, 1,300+ individualized metrics, and proven therapeutic protocols with deep relationship, dignity, and hope.

Because true care is not simply asking, “How do we change this child?”

It is asking:

☀️How do we understand this person more fully?
☀️How do we honor the way their brain and body are wired?
☀️How do we create the right supports, relationships, and environments so they can grow, connect, and thrive?

When we shift the question, we shift the care.

And when science and love work together, hope becomes more than an idea - it becomes a path forward.

That smile says everything.

He walked in wearing those headphones because the world is sometimes too loud. He's walking out with that grin because someone finally met him where he was - not where they wished he'd be.

This is what person-centered care looks like when it actually works. Not a modified curriculum or a checked box, but a child who feels seen, regulated, and free to be exactly who he is in a room full of people.

Amy O'Dell built the Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care® on 30+ years of moments like this one - because she never stopped believing they were possible, and she never stopped building the framework to make them repeatable.

Parenting often involves learning through experience, but having thoughtful guidance can transform uncertainty into a clearer sense of direction when you're not sure what to do.

What made the difference was not only the support their child received, but the guidance they received as parents. With practical strategies, encouragement, and a new way of approaching challenges, uncertainty gradually gave way to possibility.

Over time, they gained greater confidence in their ability to respond, adapt, and keep moving forward.

Sometimes the greatest gift is helping families realize there are more possibilities than they ever imagined.

Imagine a community where families don't have to choose between staying close to home and getting their child the care they actually need.

We looked at the data across our flagship site and first-year affiliate locations, and the outcomes were consistent across every single measured result. That's not an accident. It's what happens when teams are trained in the IWBMC™ with the right structure, the right tools, and real clinical support behind them. The training and the software are what make it possible to access the IWBMC™ anywhere in the world.

This is exactly why we invest so deeply in Ascend and AHAVA and building meaningful partnerships to be able to access this unique whole-brain model of care. If you know a family who's been waiting for this kind of program to exist closer to home, share this with them.

At Jacob’s Ladder, learning often happens through moments of curiosity, connection, and experiences that feel meaningful. Recently during Animal Enrichment, our Ladder group explored lessons in flexibility, trying new things, and observation through a goat food trial activity.

As clients introduced our goats to a variety of new foods, they weren’t just watching what the goats liked best - they were practicing calm bodies, safe hands, turn-taking, prediction skills, communication, and present-minded awareness along the way.

Sometimes growth looks like taking a chance on something new. Sometimes it looks like slowing down enough to notice, observe, and connect. And sometimes, some of the most meaningful lessons come with four legs and a little extra personality 🐐💚☀️

Because of the sacrifice of so many, we are able to do the work we love helping children grow, families heal, and hope take root in places that once felt impossible 🌿

As we gather with loved ones and enjoy the beauty of today, we pause with gratitude for those who gave everything so others could live, flourish, and dream freely 🇺🇸

We honor their legacy by continuing to show up with Hope, Truth, and Love ❤️

Preparing for the individuals and families we serve is something we take seriously.

Today our team spent the morning investing time into training, preparation, and thoughtful planning because every person who walks through our doors matters deeply to us.

And later, we spent time investing in each other.

Laughter, connection, and shared moments matter too. Because when a team feels supported and connected, that care naturally overflows into the lives of the families we serve.

Ready for summer. Ready for our clients. Ready to make a difference 💙
