Statement from Dallas Police Association about Sgt Boykin’s passing
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dallas Police Sergeant Joshua Boykin, who succumbed to the injuries he sustained in a small plane crash near Forney, Texas on May 16th.
Sergeant Boykin was off duty and returning from a personal trip with two fellow officers when the aircraft crashed. While the other two officers survived and continue to recover, Joshua fought courageously against his injuries before passing away this afternoon.
Today, the Dallas Police Department and the entire law enforcement community have lost a dedicated public servant, a respected leader, and a cherished friend. Sergeant Boykin devoted his life to serving and protecting the people of Dallas, and his impact on this department and the community he served will not be forgotten.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Joshua’s family, loved ones, friends, and fellow officers as they navigate this unimaginable loss. We ask the community to join us in praying for comfort, strength, and peace for all who knew and loved him.
In times like these, we are reminded that behind every badge is a person who is deeply loved by family, friends, and colleagues. Sergeant Boykin’s service, sacrifice, and commitment to others will leave a lasting legacy within the Dallas Police Department.
The Dallas Police Association stands ready to support Sergeant Boykin’s family and our members during this difficult time. We will honor his memory and remain committed to ensuring his loved ones are never forgotten.
