Rockwall PAWS mission is to make sure every heartworm positive dog adopted from the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center is treated for Heartworm disease.

Rockwall PAWS is committed to raising awareness regarding heartworm positive dogs at the Rockwall Adoption Center. Rockwall PAWS provides financial assistance to off-set the expensive heartworm treatment for adoptable dogs that may otherwise, be overlooked. Heartworms are a HUGE problem in Texas. Dogs often contract the infestation through the bite of infected mosquito. The invasion is difficult t

o detect, since the dog will often exhibit no symptoms until it's has progressed. Rockwall PAWS is making sure you're best friend is safe and people are educated on how to protect your furry family member from heartworm disease.

🎉 BIG NEWS FROM MAGGIE! 🎉

Maggie is officially **HEARTWORM NEGATIVE!**

When Maggie arrived at Rockwall Adoptions, she tested positive for heartworms. Like so many dogs in Texas, she needed lifesaving treatment before she could fully enjoy the future she deserved. Thanks to the generosity of Rockwall PAWS supporters, Maggie received the treatment she needed, found a loving forever home, and has now received the news we've all been waiting for—she is officially heartworm negative!

This happy ending would not have been possible without the donors who support Rockwall PAWS. Every donation helps provide heartworm treatment for shelter dogs who might otherwise face an uncertain future.

Montana is a 2-year-old Shepherd mix (56 lbs) who came to the shelter after his previous owners were unable to properly care for him. He arrived with a severe neck wound caused by a collar that had been too tight for far too long. Montana is now receiving treatment and slowly healing — both physically and emotionally.

Despite everything he’s endured, Montana is a sweet soul who is beginning to open up. He’s learning to walk on a leash and just needs time, patience, and compassion to discover what being a loved dog is all about.

Meet Buddy

Buddy is a 1-year-old Shepherd/Pit mix who has shown incredible resilience after being found injured and unable to use his front right leg. Due to severe nerve damage, his leg was amputated on 04/15/26, and he is now recovering and adjusting well.

He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Buddy is heartworm positive but thanks to Rockwall Paws' generous donors, his treatment is sponsored. He will need a patient home to support his continued healing, and a meet and greet is recommended if there are other dogs in the home once he has had a chance to recover from surgery.
