Rockwall Paws Rockwall PAWS mission is to make sure every heartworm positive dog adopted from the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center is treated for Heartworm disease.

Rockwall PAWS is committed to raising awareness regarding heartworm positive dogs at the Rockwall Adoption Center. Rockwall PAWS provides financial assistance to off-set the expensive heartworm treatment for adoptable dogs that may otherwise, be overlooked. Heartworms are a HUGE problem in Texas. Dogs often contract the infestation through the bite of infected mosquito. The invasion is difficult t

o detect, since the dog will often exhibit no symptoms until it's has progressed. Rockwall PAWS is making sure you're best friend is safe and people are educated on how to protect your furry family member from heartworm disease.

💔 Help Montana Heal — Donations Needed for Heartworm Treatment 💔

Montana is a 2-year-old Shepherd mix (56 lbs) who came to the shelter after his previous owners were unable to properly care for him. He arrived with a severe neck wound caused by a collar that had been too tight for far too long. Montana is now receiving treatment and slowly healing — both physically and emotionally.

Despite everything he’s endured, Montana is a sweet soul who is beginning to open up. He’s learning to walk on a leash and just needs time, patience, and compassion to discover what being a loved dog is all about.

Montana is also heartworm positive, and thanks to Rockwall PAWS, his treatment is being sponsored. Donations help cover the cost of lifesaving care and allow more dogs like Montana to get the second chance they deserve.

Outlaw would do best in a home where someone is around often and can include him as part of the family. Dog compatibility is unknown, so meet-and-greets are recommended.

Meet Buddy

Buddy is a 1-year-old Shepherd/Pit mix who has shown incredible resilience after being found injured and unable to use his front right leg. Due to severe nerve damage, his leg was amputated on 04/15/26, and he is now recovering and adjusting well.

He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Buddy is heartworm positive but thanks to Rockwall Paws' generous donors, his treatment is sponsored. He will need a patient home to support his continued healing, and a meet and greet is recommended if there are other dogs in the home once he has had a chance to recover from surgery.

We are thrilled to share that Nala is now officially HEARTWORM NEGATIVE!

Nala was adopted while she was heartworm positive, and thanks to the dedication of her wonderful adopter and the support of Rockwall PAWS, she was able to complete her treatment and is now healthy and thriving. Her story is a perfect example of how adoption and community support can change a dog’s life.

Heartworm treatment can be a long and costly process, but Rockwall PAWS helps make it possible for dogs adopted from Rockwall Adoptions to receive the care they need without placing the financial burden entirely on their adopters.

Guinness is a 4-year-old Pit Bull/Lab mix weighing about 43 pounds who is hoping to find his pot of gold—a loving forever home. He was found running loose on Misty Ridge Lane on 03/02/26 and, sadly, was never reclaimed. Despite that, Guinness has remained a cheerful and friendly boy who enjoys meeting new doggy friends. He can be a little enthusiastic during greetings, so a meet and greet is recommended for homes with other dogs.

Guinness knows some basic commands and walks fairly well on a leash. As he is still new to Rockwall Adoptions, we are continuing to learn more about his personality and will share updates as we get to know him better.

Guinness did test positive for heartworms; however, thanks to the support of Rockwall PAWS, his treatment will be covered at little to no cost to his adopter.
