Maternal health matters. Access to care matters, too.

Understanding your body after childbirth, recognizing warning signs, and knowing when to seek medical attention are essential to a mother’s well-being.

This Maternal Health Month, Obtaining New Ground is highlighting the importance of healthcare access and connecting young mothers with resources that can support their health.

Through our relationship with Hope Health in Waxahachie, TX, we want more young mothers to know where to turn for healthcare information and available services.

Knowledge is important. Access makes it actionable.

Maternal health extends beyond childbirth. Hormonal changes, menstrual irregularities, excessive bleeding, and uterine fibroids can affect women’s reproductive health. Access to menstrual hygiene products is essential to personal health and dignity, particularly for young mothers experiencing housing insecurity.

In recognition of Maternal Health Awareness Month, ONG donated cases of sanitary napkins, and other necessary essentials to Genesis Shelter.

Addressing maternal health requires education, essential resources, and compassionate community support.

We understand that sometimes, families need more than encouragement. They need tangible resources, meaningful opportunities, and someone willing to stand beside them.

At O.N.G., we see the need, we meet families with compassion, and we work to create pathways toward stability and self-sufficiency.

Because every young mother deserves the opportunity to thrive, every child deserves the chance to flourish, and no family should have to face life’s challenges alone.

Yesterday, Obtaining New Ground attended an educational discussion led by doctors addressing domestic violence and its impact on individuals and families.

Conversations like these are important because awareness can help communities better understand the challenges families face and the importance of connecting individuals with appropriate resources and support.

At Obtaining New Ground, we recognize that maternal health extends beyond pregnancy. It also includes the well being, safety, and overall stability of mothers and their families.

As we highlight maternal and menstrual health this October, we remain committed to education, resource awareness, and meaningful community engagement.

Because supporting mothers means recognizing the challenges they face and helping connect them to the resources they need.

Obtaining New Ground prepares young mothers for lifelong success.

From January through September 2026, Obtaining New Ground advanced a wraparound model designed to connect young mothers and families to the education, childcare, workforce preparation, financial literacy, and community resources needed to pursue greater stability and economic participation.

ONG creates value by addressing barriers that can limit educational attainment, workforce participation, and financial stability. Through coordinated services, participants are positioned to strengthen financial capability, pursue employment and education, increase earning potential, and build greater household stability.

The return is not simply measured in services delivered. It is reflected in increased opportunity, workforce participation, financial capability, and stronger communities.
