When you support the Rockwall Breakfast Rotary Club Flag Program, your $50 annual subscription does a lot more than put an American flag in your yard.

Funds raised through the Flag Program allow our club to support more than 20 local nonprofits and organizations serving Rockwall County, including the Rainbow Room, Lone Star CASA, Children’s Advocacy Center, Boys & Girls Club, Meals on Wheels, Shoes for Kids, Texas Valor Project, Helping Hands, and many more.

Your support helps local children, families, seniors, veterans, and neighbors who need a helping hand. We also fund local scholarships and send area students to Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).

Most of the money raised stays right here in Rockwall County, supporting the community that supports us.

Today, Frank Locke from Lone Star Cemetery Detectives joined us to share updates on his work at Gardenhire/Memorial Cemetery in Rockwall.

Since Frank last visited our club, he has found over 30 previously unmarked graves using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). His efforts are helping us learn more about the cemetery’s history and making sure we remember and honor those buried there.

The Gardenhire/Memorial Cemetery project is now one of our club’s most important community preservation efforts. Each new discovery helps us share Rockwall’s history and better honor those who are buried there.

Thank you, Frank, for your dedication, expertise, and passion for preserving local history. We look forward to seeing what future discoveries reveal as this important work continues.

Congratulations to all of the outstanding members recognized at our Annual Awards & Installation Dinner last night.

The Service Above Self Award was presented to Kevin Hadawi, Gary Piepenburg, and Tommy White for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to our club and community. These three Rotarians consistently step up when help is needed and embody what Rotary is about.

Special congratulations to Bill Bricker for achieving 10 years of perfect attendance. While the official record says 10 years, many of us believe it's been closer to 22 years since Bill last missed a meeting!

We also congratulate John Adams on being named our Rotarian of the Year. John's leadership and tireless work on behalf of our club, especially through our Stars and Stripes Flag Program, continue to make a lasting impact throughout Rockwall.

Finally, congratulations to Matt Gibson, who was inducted as Club President for a second year. We look forward to another year of service, fellowship, and making a difference in our community.

The response to the Rockwall Breakfast Rotary Stars and Stripes Flag Program has been incredible. Thanks to the support of our community, we've added more than 500 new flags over the past two months.

Every new subscription means another American flag flying proudly across Rockwall on patriotic holidays. It also means more funding for the local service projects that make a difference right here in our community.

We appreciate the opportunity to share the story behind a program that helps hundreds of Rockwall residents proudly display the American flag while supporting local community service projects throughout the year.

Thank you to Marley Mansour and her family for joining the Rockwall Breakfast Rotary Club this week and sharing their story.

Marley is one of only about 100 people worldwide diagnosed with NARS1, a rare genetic disorder that presents significant challenges for affected individuals and their families. We were honored to learn more about Marley’s journey, the strength and perseverance she demonstrates every day, and the incredible support surrounding her.

We were also encouraged to hear about promising clinical trials that Marley will be participating in, which may help reduce some of the complications associated with NARS1 and provide hope for families facing this rare condition.
