The Bucket Ministry

The Bucket Ministry Our Mission: To share God’s love through the gift of clean, safe, drinking water. Not long thereafter we had a name, a team, a mission, but no tool.

The Bucket Ministry is a passionate group of ordinary people singularly committed to bringing The Gospel and the gift of clean, safe, drinking water to all the underserved areas of the world. From the thicket thronged bush of Ghana to the frost-bitten foothills of Nepal, the dry and unbearing plains of Mexico to the deep green jungles of Brazil, the slick and hardpacked streets of the Kibera slums

to the steep pitched mountains of Vietnam—The Bucket Ministry has boot prints in many of the world’s most physically and spiritually uninviting places. Yet, in serving such an unwavering God, The Bucket Ministry is never without a shepherd for our steps. The Bucket Ministry was founded in 2012 on the heels of an opportunity to join the non-profit organization, Amazon Outreach, on a mission trip to the Brazilian Amazon. In witnessing the pervasive lack of access to clean, safe, drinking water in Brazil, we were inspired to return stateside and begin drafting ideas for the provision of clean water to the Brazilian people. What good is our passion and motivation without an instrument to turn them into material relief? Then, we were introduced to the Sawyer PointONE filter. Using the same technology as kidney dialysis, the Sawyer PointONE filter removes all harmful bacteria, protozoa, and cysts like E. coli, Giardia, Cholera, and Typhoid once water passes through its membrane. Equipped with these filters and enough buckets to drain the Red Sea, we returned to Brazil, administered medicinal aid, distributed the buckets and filters, and, most importantly—delivered the Gospel of Jesus Christ to any heart willing to receive it. Such was the success of our Brazilian trip that we soon returned again…and again…and again…and again. With the model of first meeting a physical need so we can then meet a spiritual one proven in Brazil, we realized that there were so many other places around the world yearning for this kind of aid. So, we asked God where next we should take these resources, and He answered, “Anywhere without them.” To that end, The Bucket Ministry now has a growing presence in over twenty countries around the world with new ones added yearly. With such rapid expansion, we, of course, need a fairly sophisticated method of tracking the distribution of our resources so we can maintain financial transparency with our donors. Thus, the GIS system was integrated into our data collection practice. Since February of 2019, The Bucket Ministry has employed the GIS system to provide our staff and donors with a much richer dataset of the specific location and recipient of our filters. Each filter receives a unique, waterproof barcode which, at that point of distribution, is scanned with a tablet or smart phone. Then, our field missionaries will collect brief, but useful, information on the physical and spiritual health of the recipient. This data will serve as the starting point for three follow up visitations that our teams will perform in the field. Upon each follow up, the pastor or missionary will again scan the barcode and collect further data that can be compared against the original distribution data to show if their health and faith are improving. All donors can have access to this information. Our commitment to this cause has only strengthened over the years. Not only have over 225,000 people tasted clean, safe, drinking water for the first time in their lives courtesy of the largesse of our donors and the indefatigable spirit of our team members, they, as well, have tasted for the first time the living water that only a relationship with Jesus Christ can provide. Nonetheless, we are not satisfied with 225,000. The Bucket Ministry’s mission will not be complete until we reach a very specific amount of people with clean water and the Gospel of Jesus Christ: Everyone in need. Yet, as willing as our spirit is to realize that goal one day, there are material limitations that make it impossible to do alone. That is why we have partnered with the movement. The thrust of this partnership is to plant robust networks of disciples and churches in the underserved areas of the world that can autonomously generate more disciples and churches in their communities and beyond. With such a partnership, the future of The Bucket Ministry has never been so promising.

At The Bucket Ministry, we believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and love. That’s why we freely offer the gift of safe, clean drinking water without conditions, without favoritism, and without bias.

Our mission is simple: love people well and meet them where they are.

Whether someone is searching for hope, healing, encouragement, or simply a way to keep their family healthy, we want them to know they are seen, valued, and cared for. Through every bucket filter distributed, every follow-up visit, every conversation, and every Gospel presentation, we strive to reflect the heart of Jesus.

Clean water saves lives. The Gospel changes lives.

At the end of the day, our goal isn’t recognition—it’s people. Families. Communities. Hearts. We are here to serve however people are ready to receive it, trusting God to do the rest.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to others. Memorial Day reminds us that freedom has always come at a cost — through sacrifice, courage, and love for people they may never even meet.

At The Bucket Ministry, we are humbled by that same spirit of selfless service. While our mission looks different, our heartbeat is the same: to bring hope to people in need through safe, clean drinking water and the sharing of the Gospel.

Every bucket filter delivered is more than clean water. It’s compassion in action. It’s dignity restored. It’s hope carried into homes and communities that have often been forgotten.

Today we honor those who sacrificed for freedom, and we remain committed to serving others with love, mercy, and the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Jesus modeled this kind of love, and it's the kind of love we're to have toward others. ❤️ ✝️ 💦🪣🇺🇸

Love. Mercy. Hope. In Action. ❤️

At The Bucket Ministry, we believe clean water is more than a necessity — it’s a way to share the love of Christ with families around the world.

Every bucket filter distributed represents compassion in action. It’s not about recognition, wealth, or praise. It’s about meeting people in their need, helping save lives through safe clean drinking water, and pointing hearts toward the living hope found in Jesus.

Because of contaminated water, many families face sickness, hardship, and uncertainty every single day. But through the generosity and compassion of supporters like you, hope is reaching homes one family at a time.

Clean water changes lives. The Gospel changes hearts.

Together, we are sharing both. 💧✝️

SWIPE & be amazed at what happens when clean water meets consistent follow-up, practical training, and the hope of the Gospel! 🪣💦

Lives change. Families heal. Communities transform.

A recent analysis of 6,795 households in Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya revealed something incredible:
BEFORE receiving a Sawyer PointONE filter and WASH training, 52.7% of households reported diarrhea-related sickness in the previous two weeks.

AFTER just 70 days of filter use and ongoing education, that number dropped to 2.2% — a staggering 95.8% reduction in self-reported household diarrhea prevalence.

That’s not just a statistic.
That’s fewer sick children.
Fewer missed days of work and school.
Fewer families spending precious money on medicine or boiling contaminated water.
And more opportunities for people to experience hope, dignity, and healing.

At The Bucket Ministry, we believe clean water is only the beginning.

Through every Sawyer PointONE filter distributed, every WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) training session, every Gospel presentation, and every follow-up visit, we are sharing more than safe drinking water — we are sharing the love of Jesus.

Because when families no longer have to fear the water they drink, doors open for deeper conversations, restored relationships, and transformed lives both physically and spiritually.

This is why we go.
This is why we follow up.
This is why we believe every bucket matters.

God is good. All the time! 🪣💦

When our team returned for a follow-up visit, we sat with Mr. Kamau and shared the hope found in God’s Word.

But there was one challenge.

Mr. Kamau’s eyesight has become very poor, making it difficult for him to read a printed Bible on his own. For many, that obstacle might feel discouraging. But through a simple tool and a faithful follow-up, God made a way.

Using our Wi-Fi Bible box, we were able to send an audio Bible directly to his phone.

Now, instead of straining to see the pages, Mr. Kamau can listen to Scripture anytime and anywhere. As God’s Word fills his home, he is finding comfort, encouragement, and peace in the middle of hardship.

This moment is such a beautiful reminder that ministry is about more than delivering clean water. It’s about walking alongside people, returning to follow up, and making sure they not only experience physical transformation, but spiritual hope as well.

One filter opened the door. One follow-up changed everything.

Look what God did.

Richard used to spend part of every single day just trying to make water safe to drink.

Boiling water meant constantly buying fuel, waiting for pots to heat, and stretching already limited resources just to meet a basic need. Even after all the effort, sickness still found its way into the home. The cycle was exhausting — physically, financially, and emotionally.

But everything changed when Richard received a Bucket Filter.

Now, clean and safe drinking water is available instantly. No more costly fuel. No more long hours spent boiling water. No more wondering if the water will make his family sick.

What once drained his household now brings relief.

The difference is more than convenience. It’s restored health. It’s money saved for other needs. It’s time returned to a father and his family. It’s peace of mind knowing every glass of water is safe to drink.

This is why we do what we do.

Because clean water changes more than hydration — it changes daily life. And through every filter distributed, families like Richard’s experience both physical hope and the reminder that they are seen, valued, and loved.

Look what God did.

Just 12 miles outside of Texas… families in Los Kilómetros 30 are still living without reliable access to clean, safe drinking water.

But we believe clean water is just the beginning.

Through the gift of a water filter and the message of Living Hope, lives can be transformed physically AND spiritually. Every bucket delivered represents more than safe water — it represents dignity restored, trust built, relationships formed, and the love of Jesus shared.

The El Kilómetros 30 Campaign will take approximately 30 weeks and just $28,000 to reach every home in the community with clean water and the Gospel.

That means together, we have the opportunity to help bring lasting change right across the border.

This is not simply a call to give.
It’s a call to GO.
A call to serve.
A call to partner with God’s people in bringing hope to homes that desperately need it.
