The Bucket Ministry

The Bucket Ministry Our Mission: To share God’s love through the gift of clean, safe, drinking water. Not long thereafter we had a name, a team, a mission, but no tool.

The Bucket Ministry is a passionate group of ordinary people singularly committed to bringing The Gospel and the gift of clean, safe, drinking water to all the underserved areas of the world. From the thicket thronged bush of Ghana to the frost-bitten foothills of Nepal, the dry and unbearing plains of Mexico to the deep green jungles of Brazil, the slick and hardpacked streets of the Kibera slums

to the steep pitched mountains of Vietnam—The Bucket Ministry has boot prints in many of the world’s most physically and spiritually uninviting places. Yet, in serving such an unwavering God, The Bucket Ministry is never without a shepherd for our steps. The Bucket Ministry was founded in 2012 on the heels of an opportunity to join the non-profit organization, Amazon Outreach, on a mission trip to the Brazilian Amazon. In witnessing the pervasive lack of access to clean, safe, drinking water in Brazil, we were inspired to return stateside and begin drafting ideas for the provision of clean water to the Brazilian people. What good is our passion and motivation without an instrument to turn them into material relief? Then, we were introduced to the Sawyer PointONE filter. Using the same technology as kidney dialysis, the Sawyer PointONE filter removes all harmful bacteria, protozoa, and cysts like E. coli, Giardia, Cholera, and Typhoid once water passes through its membrane. Equipped with these filters and enough buckets to drain the Red Sea, we returned to Brazil, administered medicinal aid, distributed the buckets and filters, and, most importantly—delivered the Gospel of Jesus Christ to any heart willing to receive it. Such was the success of our Brazilian trip that we soon returned again…and again…and again…and again. With the model of first meeting a physical need so we can then meet a spiritual one proven in Brazil, we realized that there were so many other places around the world yearning for this kind of aid. So, we asked God where next we should take these resources, and He answered, “Anywhere without them.” To that end, The Bucket Ministry now has a growing presence in over twenty countries around the world with new ones added yearly. With such rapid expansion, we, of course, need a fairly sophisticated method of tracking the distribution of our resources so we can maintain financial transparency with our donors. Thus, the GIS system was integrated into our data collection practice. Since February of 2019, The Bucket Ministry has employed the GIS system to provide our staff and donors with a much richer dataset of the specific location and recipient of our filters. Each filter receives a unique, waterproof barcode which, at that point of distribution, is scanned with a tablet or smart phone. Then, our field missionaries will collect brief, but useful, information on the physical and spiritual health of the recipient. This data will serve as the starting point for three follow up visitations that our teams will perform in the field. Upon each follow up, the pastor or missionary will again scan the barcode and collect further data that can be compared against the original distribution data to show if their health and faith are improving. All donors can have access to this information. Our commitment to this cause has only strengthened over the years. Not only have over 225,000 people tasted clean, safe, drinking water for the first time in their lives courtesy of the largesse of our donors and the indefatigable spirit of our team members, they, as well, have tasted for the first time the living water that only a relationship with Jesus Christ can provide. Nonetheless, we are not satisfied with 225,000. The Bucket Ministry’s mission will not be complete until we reach a very specific amount of people with clean water and the Gospel of Jesus Christ: Everyone in need. Yet, as willing as our spirit is to realize that goal one day, there are material limitations that make it impossible to do alone. That is why we have partnered with the movement. The thrust of this partnership is to plant robust networks of disciples and churches in the underserved areas of the world that can autonomously generate more disciples and churches in their communities and beyond. With such a partnership, the future of The Bucket Ministry has never been so promising.

🧺🍕 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL PICNIC DAY! 🍕🧺

A picnic may be about gathering together and sharing a meal, but sometimes it’s the simple things that create the most unforgettable moments.

While visiting our team in Kibera, Kenya, we decided to order a few pizzas for a meeting. We thought it would be a fun way to end the day.

What we didn’t expect was their reaction.
Many of our local leaders shared that pizza is a rare luxury in their community. Several told us they hadn’t eaten pizza since they were children.

We couldn’t let that stand. So a few days ago, we threw a massive pizza party picnic for more than 100 members of our Kibera team. And judging by the smiles, laughter, and pure excitement, you’d have thought we were handing out something far more valuable than pizza.

Moments like these remind us that ministry is about more than programs and projects. It’s about relationships. It’s about celebrating people. It’s about creating moments of joy with those we serve alongside.

Of course, nothing compares to the hope found in the Gospel or the life-changing impact of clean water. Those remain at the heart of everything we do.

But every now and then, a few slices of pizza can be a powerful reminder that people are seen, valued, loved, and appreciated.

Clean water. The Gospel. And apparently... pizza. ❤️🍕

“What a great way to spend Cinco de Mayo…”

For Sean, that meant serving alongside The Bucket Ministry in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico—helping deliver safe, clean drinking water and sharing the hope of Jesus with families in need.

A single $50 Sawyer PointONE filter can provide a family with clean drinking water for up to 20 years. That’s a life-changing gift. But the impact doesn’t stop with clean water.

At The Bucket Ministry, we believe every person deserves access to both physical and spiritual hope. We provide clean water to satisfy a family’s thirst for today, and we share the Gospel of Jesus Christ—the Living Water who satisfies for eternity.

Sean described his first trip to Mexico as a blessing. He encountered joyful families, built meaningful relationships, and witnessed firsthand how God is transforming lives through the simple act of providing safe water and sharing His love.

The truth is, Sean’s story can become your story.

Whether you’re looking to serve on an international campaign, volunteer at a Filter Assembly Event, become a monthly Ripple partner, pray for communities around the world, or help fund life-changing water filters, there is a place for you in this mission.

You don’t have to travel across the world to make a difference—but if God is stirring your heart to go, we would love to help you take that next step.

Together, we’re bringing hope through safe water and the Gospel.

The Shompole Campaign, in partnership with Flint Baptist Church of Flint, Texas is one of the most ambitious outreach efforts in The Bucket Ministry’s 14-year history. Covering more than 11,000 homes across 1,500 square miles of remote Maasai territory along the Kenya-Tanzania border, this campaign requires a unique approach to ministry, follow-up, and discipleship.

Shompole is a place of remarkable beauty and significant challenges. Families live in an unforgiving environment marked by intense heat, prolonged drought, limited infrastructure, and scarce access to clean water. Communities are often separated by vast distances, making consistent outreach difficult.

To support this work, The Bucket Ministry has established a Base Camp in the heart of the mission field. Funded by private donors, Base Camp serves as the operational hub for the campaign, providing secure storage for water filters, equipment, and supplies while serving as the home and office of our Shompole Campaign Manager and missionary team.

Powered by solar energy and connected through Starlink, Base Camp enables our team to coordinate ministry efforts across this expansive region. Missionary teams deploy from the camp into remote communities, often spending weeks at a time in the bush distributing water filters, sharing the Gospel, and making disciples before returning to restock and prepare for their next assignment.

This Base Camp stands as an oasis of hope in a challenging and remote region. We are deeply grateful to West Gulf Container, LLC, Container Solutions, Inc., and Tech Zero Africa Limited for helping bring this vision to life. Their partnership has created a strategic base from which thousands of families will be served with clean water and the hope of Christ for years to come.

Together with Flint Baptist Church and our local ministry partners, we are excited to see how God will use the Shompole Campaign to transform lives for years ahead.

🪣💦😊 Clean water has a way of putting smiles on faces. When a family receives a TBM Bucket Filter, they're receiving far more than a bucket and a filter.

They're receiving freedom from the daily burden of searching for safe water. They're receiving protection from waterborne illnesses that too often rob families of their health, time, and income. They're receiving peace of mind knowing that the water they give their children is safe to drink.

A simple filter can mean fewer sick days, lower medical expenses, more time in school, more time at work, and healthier families. That's enough to make anyone smile.

But as powerful as clean water is, it's not the most important thing we deliver.

Every bucket filter distribution is paired with something even more life-changing: the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Clean water can transform a person's health. The Gospel can transform a person's eternity.

That's why our teams don't just install filters—they build relationships, share God's Word, pray with families, and return for follow-up visits. We believe every person deserves both safe water and the opportunity to hear about the Living Water.

Those smiles you see? They're often the result of physical needs being met and hearts being touched by the love of Christ.

Thank you for helping us share hope through safe, clean drinking water and the Gospel around the world. 🪣💦😊

What a great turnout at our TBM Warehouse Work Day in Rockwall, Texas!

Volunteers gathered from across the area to spend part of their weekend making a tangible difference in the lives of families around the world. The day began with an update on what God is doing through The Bucket Ministry and the incredible impact being made through safe, clean drinking water and the Gospel.

From there, the work began. Volunteers counted, organized, and boxed water filters that will soon be shipped to communities in need—communities where access to clean water can save lives and where the hope of Jesus Christ is being shared alongside every filter.

What may have looked like packing boxes in a warehouse was actually work with immediate global impact. Every filter prepared represents families who will experience cleaner water, improved health, and an opportunity to hear the Good News.

Of course, no TBM workday is complete without great fellowship. Volunteers shared stories, enjoyed lunch together, built new friendships, and even went home with a TBM team shirt as a reminder that they are part of something much bigger than themselves.

To everyone who showed up, served faithfully, and gave their time—thank you. Your hands helped bring hope. Your efforts helped save lives. And your service is helping fulfill the mission of sharing God’s love through safe, clean drinking water and the Gospel.

At The Bucket Ministry, we believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and love. That’s why we freely offer the gift of safe, clean drinking water without conditions, without favoritism, and without bias.

Our mission is simple: love people well and meet them where they are.

Whether someone is searching for hope, healing, encouragement, or simply a way to keep their family healthy, we want them to know they are seen, valued, and cared for. Through every bucket filter distributed, every follow-up visit, every conversation, and every Gospel presentation, we strive to reflect the heart of Jesus.

Clean water saves lives. The Gospel changes lives.

At the end of the day, our goal isn’t recognition—it’s people. Families. Communities. Hearts. We are here to serve however people are ready to receive it, trusting God to do the rest.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to others. Memorial Day reminds us that freedom has always come at a cost — through sacrifice, courage, and love for people they may never even meet.

At The Bucket Ministry, we are humbled by that same spirit of selfless service. While our mission looks different, our heartbeat is the same: to bring hope to people in need through safe, clean drinking water and the sharing of the Gospel.

Every bucket filter delivered is more than clean water. It’s compassion in action. It’s dignity restored. It’s hope carried into homes and communities that have often been forgotten.

Today we honor those who sacrificed for freedom, and we remain committed to serving others with love, mercy, and the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Jesus modeled this kind of love, and it's the kind of love we're to have toward others. ❤️ ✝️ 💦🪣🇺🇸
