The Seth Bennett Treatment Scholarship
Samaritan Colony is honored to announce the establishment of the Seth Bennett Treatment Scholarship — a meaningful legacy gift made possible through the extraordinary generosity of longtime Samaritan Colony supporter, Donna Verrilli.
Established in perpetuity, this scholarship will cover the full treatment fees for one individual each year to receive life-saving care at Samaritan Colony — giving someone a real chance at a new life.
The scholarship is named after Seth Bennett, a Samaritan Colony graduate who has been in recovery since 2014. After completing treatment, Seth built a life of purpose and possibility — founding Serenity Landscaping in 2016. Based in Moore County, Serenity Landscaping is a highly successful business with three employees, all of whom are Samaritan Colony alumni. Seth also gives back to the recovery community through his work as a sponsor for other men in AA.
It was through his work that Seth first crossed paths with Donna in 2020, when she hired him for his landscaping services. What began as a professional relationship blossomed into a lasting friendship rooted in shared values and a deep belief in the power of recovery.
As Donna prepares to celebrate an extraordinary 50 years of sobriety, her gift reflects a lifetime of understanding what recovery truly means. By naming this scholarship after Seth, she honors his journey and ensures that others will have the same opportunity to reclaim their lives.
The Seth Bennett Treatment Scholarship stands as a testament to what recovery makes possible—and to the lives forever changed when those who have found healing choose to give back.
Thank you, Donna. And thank you, Seth, for showing others what is possible.
