Another POWERFUL guest speaker at Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse today!
Proud father of a Texas A&M football player, a BGCA Hall of Famer and a proud former Youth of the Year at his childhood club in Mississippi, Mr. Seneca Wilson just visited with BGCS Director of Fund Development James Hastie, Shonnard Street Club Director Derrick Bacon and Shonnard St. Club Youth Development Specialist Nicolette Narine (a proud former Youth of the Year for BGC-NYC). He left our staff and a group of our youth members, speechless and inspired.
Widely known as Seneca the Motivational Poet—he is an acclaimed youth motivational speaker, spoken word artist, author, and educator. He utilizes a unique framework called S.H.I.P. (Sports, Hip Hop, Inspiration, and Poetry) to empower students, athletes, and educators to conquer self-doubt and realize their full potential. Beyond his career as a verbal artist and public speaker, he also serves as the Barnes Center Recreation Director at Syracuse University.
Core Focus & Methodology
• The S.H.I.P. Philosophy: Wilson blends elements of urban culture, athletics, motivational speaking, and spoken word poetry to engage high school and university students on topics like college and career readiness, resilience, and personal leadership.
• Overcoming Adversity: Drawing heavily from his personal story of growing up in the Charles Warner housing projects in Pascagoula, Mississippi, he shares actionable advice on finding purpose despite difficult environments.
Published Works
He has authored several books that combine reflections and poetry, which he distributes to student leadership groups. For more information, please visit Senecawilson.com.
