Amanda Kempen was our guest speaker at Rotary on Aug. 3rd.

Amanda is the Director of the Hamlet Senior Center and a Certified Peer Support Specialist with Comprehensive Community Support Services. She is passionate about serving older adults, connecting people with valuable community resources, and building partnerships that strengthen Richmond County. Amanda is also the vocalist for her husband’s ministry, CHRANDA Ministries.

Brad Denson, head coach of the Richmond Raider football program, recently spoke at our Rockingham Rotary meeting. Coach Denson discussed preparing for the upcoming season. He shared the cost of outfitting a football player. The cost of a helmet is 700.00. Let’s all get out and support the Richmond Raiders this upcoming season and cheer them on to a State Championship!!🏈 We also enjoyed another great meal from the Grille.

At our recent Rotary meeting, our very own Rotary member, and past Rotary president, Kristi Richardson King was our guest speaker. Kristi serves as the President/ CEO of the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce. Kristi has deep roots to Richmond County being born and raised here. She spend many years with NASCAR before returning to Richmond County. In 2024, after the loss of her son Will, she turned heartbreak into helping others by establishing the William Noah King Foundation. The foundation assists with educational and recreational resources throughout the local and regional community. She shared with us the many efforts of the Chamber as well the happenings with the Willam Noah King Foundation. We appreciate Kristi speaking with us.

On May 11th, Steven King, Richmond County Schools, director of construction, maintenance and planning was our guest speaker at our meeting. Steven discussed past achievements and future plans for the school system. Steven’s team serves 6250 students and 1135 staff which covers 1.3 million square feet.

Meghann Lambeth, executive director of Richmond County Tourism spoke at our April 27th Rotary meeting. Meghann has served as the director since 2019. She is a lifelong resident of Richmond County and has a deep desire to grow tourism in the county. She oversees digital platforms, content creation, and promotional efforts that highlight Richmond County events, attractions, and unique experiences. All of these efforts drive economic impact for the county. NASCAR and NHRA are two of the biggest economic attractions that the organization helps promote. We appreciate Meghann sharing her insights on tourism in Richmond County. We always enjoy a great lunch provided by the Grille prior to our meetings.

At the April 20th Rotary meeting, Betty McIntyre, build coordinator for Sleep in Heavenly Peace spoke about this organization and the value it brings to Richmond County. This organization builds beds and distributes to children that do not have a bed in their home. The First Baptist Church of Hamlet recently partnered with this organization to build 20 beds to distribute in Richmond County. Rotary appreciates the work this organization is doing for Richmond County.
