MCSO ANNOUNCES S.A.V.E.S. PROJECT NOW ACTIVE THROUGHOUT SERVICE AREA

Mount Clemens, MI – The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that the S.A.V.E.S. (Special-needs, Autism, Vulnerable-persons, Elderly, Safety) Project is now active in all communities served by the Sheriff’s Office. The program helps promote better communication between first responders and individuals who may have cognitive, developmental or other vulnerabilities during an emergency.

Residents in Harrison Township, Lenox Township, Macomb Township, Mount Clemens, New Haven and Washington Township who have a vulnerable family member can register that individual by completing a Personal Emergency Profile form available on the Sheriff’s Office website: www.macombgov.org/sheriffs-office.

Once registered, the individual's information is entered into the S.A.V.E.S. Project database, and their address is flagged in the 911 database. This information can assist dispatchers and first responders in identifying and responding appropriately to individuals who may require additional assistance or have difficulty communicating during an emergency.

The program also includes the Blue Envelope Program, which provides individuals with special needs a tool to assist with communication during interactions with law enforcement. S.A.V.E.S. also provides vehicle window stickers and QR code stickers that can help law enforcement identify vulnerable individuals.

To register a vulnerable family member, visit the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office website and select “S.A.V.E.S. Project” under Featured Services: www.macombgov.org/ sheriffs-office.

We have been very busy this past week! We have made our way into a new county - Lapeer!! We are also moving our way through Genesee county.

Please help us welcome Almont Police Department and Grand Blanc Township Police Department as new partners!! We are very excited to move forward with them and spread awareness.

Let's cheer on our partner Birmingham, MI Police Department as they participate tomorrow in the Michigan Law Enforcement Torch Run!! 🥳

Birmingham officers will be participating in the Michigan Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Michigan tomorrow morning, September 18, 2026. Please be advised that our officers, along with many other local agencies, will be running in roadways with a police es**rt. We apologize for any delay this may cause in your travels as our first responders fundraise for the amazing SOMI athletes.

We appreciate your encouragement and support for our officers, and the incredible Special Olympics Michigan organization!

Thank you Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police for allowing us to present today at your meeting! It was such a pleasure speaking with everyone and we are already working on new partnerships with several agencies. What a GREAT turn out!! Thank you City of Warren Police Department and City of Warren for inviting us to your open house and allowing us to spread more information about safety, awareness, and education.

We had the privilege of speaking with several community members, register new participants, welcome new volunteers and more. We are always so grateful for the positive feedback we receive from the community.

Christina of course gave everyone their assignments and off she went to handle some important administrative tasks...like mastering a yo-yo, checking out some swat gear, splashing in puddles and soaking some of the WPD officers in the dunk tank!!
