Last week at the Tailgate, we did a little something new: Duck, Duck, Give. Attendees competed with their table to earn the most ducks by Donating, Connecting, and Knowing all about the Community Foundation. The winning table got to direct a grant to the non-profit of their choice, given in their name! Congratulations to Team Talbert for collecting 154 ducks! And an honorable mention to the joined forces of First State Bank - Michigan and Chief Financial for their amazing teamwork. 😉 🦆

Through our Duck, Duck, Give initiative, we raised $8300, which we will be splitting evenly between two causes: the City of Rochester Hills Bath & Body Drive for the RHISE Cup, and the Foundation's responsive grant-making.

We're putting on our shopping shoes right now, and we're heading to Costco to buy laundry soap, shampoo, pull-ups, and more with all of your donations! Thank you for supporting this community by donating to the Community Foundation. When we all work together, it makes Greater Rochester a better place for all of us!

For the past three days, our Board Chair Beth Talbert, Secretary & Treasurer Pat Catlin, and Trustee Luke Fleer, along with President Jo Allen, have been at the Council of Michigan Foundations Annual Conference, picking up ideas on how we can continue to be better at what we do: giving back to the community we love.

And, as an added bonus, we got to visit the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. What an amazing place. Win win!

The Tailgate is two days away--and we're in full prep mode!

The Community Foundation hosts community gatherings to bring together donors and share our mission with the community.

The Tailgate has been our signature event for 16 years! It's where we amplify the missions of local non-profits, raise money for local charitable initiatives that deserve a boost, and engage with our donors to help us do what we do best: give back to the community we love. You could say the Tailgate is a little bit of a love letter to everyone who supports us.

In 2024, the Community Foundation awarded the Rochester Pollinators a Community Enhancement Grant to plant a mini forest in Rochester. That project is now a finalist for the Community Excellence Award at the Michigan Municipal League Annual Convention!

The Community Foundation is a hub of philanthropy. We have our thumb on the pulse of the community, and we leverage donations, connections, and expertise to direct community support to the causes that matter.
