Calvary Baptist Church Rochester

Calvary Baptist Church Rochester Know... Love... Follow... JESUS COMMITMENT TO SCRIPTURE
God has provided His Word so that we might know Him and His will for our lives.

Our church is happy to associate with Regular Baptist Ministries (garbc.org) and the Minnesota Association of Regular Baptist Churches (marbc.org)

WHY CHOOSE CALVARY? He revealed Himself in the Scriptures without error in their original languages. The Bible is our authority and reliable today. We interpret the Scriptures in a literal, historical-grammatical way. Our pastor typically preaches from

the English Standard Version. EXPOSITORY PREACHING
The point of the Scripture passage is the point we seek to present in preaching. Typically, sermon series navigate through Bible passages sequentially by chapter and verse, applying timeless truths in ways that can be practically applied and lived out today. WORSHIP IN SONG
The music we sing at Calvary is carefully selected to affirm God’s truth and embed it in our minds and hearts. We endeavor to draw from both the best songs being produced today and the rich files of English hymnody. Our congregational singing is led by a team of musicians who sing and play instruments such as the piano, keyboard, violin, drums, and guitar.

In this episode of Answers for a Changing Culture, Pastor Greg considers how Christians should respond when someone has done something that feels unforgivable. Scripture calls believers to forgive, but forgiveness does not mean minimizing evil, abandoning justice, immediately restoring trust, or pretending reconciliation has happened without repentance. Biblical forgiveness begins with remembering the immeasurable mercy we have received in Christ.

In this episode of Answers for a Changing Culture, Pastor Greg considers how Christians should think about Pokémon and other fantasy involving magic, ghosts, psychic powers, and supernatural elements. Scripture clearly forbids real occult practices, but imaginary powers are not automatically the same thing. Christians should evaluate what a story portrays, what it celebrates, what it produces in us, and whether we can participate with a clear conscience before God.

In this episode of Answers for a Changing Culture, Pastor Greg considers how Christians should think about UFOs, alien life, and the mysteries of the universe. Scripture does not answer every question we may have about outer space, but it tells us what we need most: God created the heavens and the earth, humanity is made in His image, Christ rules over all things, and mystery does not have to shake our faith.

In the second episode of Answers for a Changing Culture, Pastor Greg considers dignity, hospitality, biblical sexuality, repentance, church membership, and family relationships. It explores how Christians can offer genuine compassion without surrendering biblical conviction.

In the first episode of Answers for a Changing Culture, Pastor Greg looks at what Scripture says about women, ministry, and pastoral oversight in the church.

The Bible clearly teaches the equal dignity and essential ministry of women. It also calls us to ask what a pastor is biblically and how that role relates to elders, overseers, teaching, and shepherding the gathered church.
