Calling All Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)!

We are looking for Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to be part of a project about the importance of advocacy!

This is an opportunity to share experiences, speak up about challenges, and help others better understand why DSP voices matter.

Participants can answer 1–3 questions about:
• Being a DSP
• Self-advocacy
• Workplace experiences
• Advocacy with legislators
• Changes needed in the disability support system

There are two ways to participate:
• Write out answers and send a picture/document
• Record a short video

Responses shared through this project will be featured in a video series focused on DSP experiences, advocacy, and the importance of speaking up for positive change.

Interested or have questions? Contact Kerri Leucuta, Regional Quality Council Manager at [email protected] or 507.513.7615

A quick note about our name

You may have seen our name written as “ARC Minnesota.” But the correct name is The Arc Minnesota.

Our name used to be an acronym many years ago. The “R” stood for a word that is no longer used and is no longer considered respectful to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Today, The Arc is not an acronym.

The name represents a bridge—connecting people with disabilities and their families to resources, support, and community.

Using The Arc Minnesota helps reflect our values of dignity, respect, and inclusion.

Thank you for helping us use language that honors the disability community.

Meet Lexi—this month’s Self‑Advocacy Spotlight! ✨

Lexi learned early in life that speaking up is essential for your emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing. Today, she’s turning that strength into a career as a professional disability advocate.

From pursuing her degree in social work to meeting with legislators in Washington, D.C., Lexi works to amplify the voices of people with disabilities and build stronger, more inclusive communities. She also leans on organizations, friends, and her dogs—her “chosen family”—for support along the way.
