Rochester Dance Company is extremely proud to welcome Ellie Lindloff, who is joining the company as an Associate Instructor & Social Emotional Coach.

Ellie is absolutely thrilled to be back with Rochester Dance Company – an organization she has loved for over 15 years.

Ellie started with the company as a little mouse & has performed or understudied for almost every single role in the show, finishing her senior year performing as both Snow Queen & Coffee. Her time there overlapped with both Daniel & Morgan, & she remembers looking up to both of them as a young dancer. Even after graduating, Ellie prioritized returning to the Nutcracker (and the spring show!) every year to cheer on the dancers or help backstage.

Now, she’s back at the Company officially as an Associate Instructor & Social Emotional Coach. She will assist in teaching classes & running rehearsals, as well as help dancers build resilience & confidence through providing emotional support, guiding them as they navigate setbacks, & teaching stress management techniques to foster a positive, inclusive, & balanced culture.

Beyond RDC, Ellie grew up dancing at Janet Lang Dance Studio & Byron Dance Academy. She learned under many of the same instructors as dancers in the Company today including Ted Sothern, Leila Friel, Joanie Mix, & Daniel Klinkhammer himself, as well as many others. She currently teaches ballet, pointe, & lyrical classes at BDA, largely to middle & high school students.

Outside of dance, Ellie is currently pursuing a degree in Human Development & Family Relations remotely from the University of Colorado-Denver, with a minor in Women & Gender Studies. She works at Allina Health as a Grant Writing Intern and an ESP at Folwell Elementary & regularly works with a diverse population of students.

Ellie has long held a passion for working with & connecting with kids, & is looking forward to pairing her passion for dance & passion for social-emotional growth in kids in this role. She is so excited to connect with each & every dancer & help facilitate growth for every individual, & for the company overall.

Thank you for returning to RDC and all the talent you bring!

RDC just got done with Ballet Boot Camp, which is a 5 day Nutcracker+ intensive for our company members.

The preparations for our Nutcracker performances in December start here! Our 80+ dancers spent the week learning their roles, choreography and fitted for their costumes. They also have company photos and headshots that will be part of our beautiful Nutcracker program.

On top of this prep for our shows in December, they did a lot of FUN team building activities and presentations to help them become more confident and stronger dancers. They had Social Emotional Learning, Nutrition, Social Dance and Yoga classes.

If this didn’t sound like it’s fill their days up, there were many crafts and activities planned and done by dancers this week. They created bag tags/charms, beaded and braided bracelets, created dog toys (to donate to Paws and Claws), painted Kindness Rocks and our annual reverse Tie Dye of our Boot Camp t-shirts!

We also had a friendly contest as part of a Food Drive to help support the fill the Food Pantry for Rochester Alternative Learning Center students and families. Over 1200 items were donated by our dancers/families this week!

To celebrate the hard work and fun of the week, it ends with a POOL PARTY….a couple hours of just summer fun!

We had a very productive and successful week and this really gets us all so excited for the season ahead.

Thank you to all of our dancers and families for being a part of RDC this year! Thank you to all our Volunteers, the planning, scheduling, and ex*****on of this BIG week is a big job and it was a huge success! Thank you to the extra dance instructors help we had this year! We are so fortunate to have the engagement and support of so many in the dance community. Thank you to our families for the donations to the food drive, dancer snacks and our end of the week ice cream/frozen treats!

RDC is a non-profit volunteer led organization and without the support of our families, we couldn’t do this without you!
