Supporting tech, health & life science startups & entrepreneurs in Roanoke-Blacksburg region of Virginia.

RAMP’s mission is to propel high-potential startups in the Roanoke-Blacksburg region to expand and create jobs in the STEM-H fields. Partners in the initiative include the City of Roanoke, which renovated RAMP's home in the historic Gill Memorial Hospital building; the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council, which recruits RAMP participants and provides them mentorship and networking opportunities; and Virginia Western Community College, which provides business education training on site.

RAMP Up is a brand new 8-week accelerator for agtech, forestry, and rural innovators, and applications for the inaugural Fall 2026 cohort are due this week!

Powered by SOVA RISE: Regional Investment in Startups & EntrepreneursE and RAMP, and hosted in person at SOVA Innovation Hub Hub in South Boston, Virginia, the program offers:

✅ Up to $10K in non-dilutive funding (you keep 100% equity) or business support credits, based on your locality
✅ 8 weekly cohort-based sessions, September 21 – November 9
✅ 1:1 expert coaching and mentorship
✅ A chance to pitch at the Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council Emerging Tech Conference, November 19-20

To participate, your business must be based in one of 37 eligible Virginia cities or counties, spanning the Southern and Southwest regions of the state.

💡 The participant can participate in weekly 2.5 hour virtual sessions over 4 weeks
💡 The idea involves innovation in tech or health & life sciences, but the business does not yet have to be incorporated

Meet the RAMP alumni making waves in AgTech! 🌱

Toni Sperry co-founded Pod Farms, a startup specializing in vertical hydroponic growing systems for controlled environment agriculture. In the past year, they earned the VIPC Launch Grant, made their trade show debut at Indoor Ag-Con in Las Vegas and were featured in the CEAg World Industry Report. Now they're heading into the RIoT Accelerator Program and preparing to launch a pre-seed round this spring.
